tribnet alert

This is the first major TRIBNET ALERT we have posted on this 5 August 2013 – why?  The closure of some 20 to 22 US Embassies, as well as embassies of European nations in these same Muslim States, is altogether alarming.  We hasten to add the heightened alerts are in force in other Muslim States like Turkey, Morocco, Lebanon, Pakistan, Indonesia and Tunisia…the USA has closed its embassies in Syria and Iran already.  What is going on here?

The “bought and sold” media proclaims that the threat comes at the end of Ramadan, coupled with al-Qaida chatter indicating something big is going down emanating from the Saudi Arabian Peninsula – American and European travelers BEWARE!  The difference between a “global travel alert” and a “warning” is this:

Travel Alerts

We issue Travel Alerts for short-term events we think you should know about when planning travel to a country. Examples of reasons for issuing a Travel Alert might include an election season that is bound to have many strikes, demonstrations, disturbances; a health alert like an outbreak of H1N1; or evidence of an elevated risk of terrorist attacks. When these short-term events are over, we cancel the Travel Alert.

Travel Warnings

We issue a Travel Warning when we want you to consider very carefully whether you should go to a country at all. Examples of reasons for issuing a Travel Warning might include unstable government, civil war, or ongoing intense crime or violence, or frequent terrorist attacks. We want you to know the risks of traveling to these places and to strongly consider not going to them at all. Travel Warnings remain in place until the situation changes; some have been in effect for years. (Source:  US State Department)

This is a GLOBAL TRAVEL ALERT:  Elevated risk of terrorist attack!

state department

The ALERT was issued by the US State Department on Friday, 2 August, 2013; to wit:

The State Department on Friday issued a global travel alert for U.S. citizens, warning of an Al-Qaeda terror threat for the entire month of August.

The travel alert comes after 21 embassies across the Muslim world were ordered closed due to an unspecified threat.

“Current information suggests that al-Qa’ida and affiliated organizations continue to plan terrorist attacks both in the region and beyond, and that they may focus efforts to conduct attacks in the period between now and the end of August,” the alert posted on the State Department’s website stated.

The alert warned of the “potential for terrorist attacks” particularly in the Middle East and North Africa, and also possibly in the Arabian Peninsula.

“Terrorists may elect to use a variety of means and weapons and target both official and private interests,” the alert said. “U.S. citizens are reminded of the potential for terrorists to attack public transportation systems and other tourist infrastructure.  Terrorists have targeted and attacked subway and rail systems, as well as aviation and maritime services.  U.S. citizens should take every precaution to be aware of their surroundings and to adopt appropriate safety measures to protect themselves when traveling.”

Yemen is home to al-Qaida’s most dangerous affiliate, blamed for several notable terrorist plots on the United States. They include the foiled Christmas Day 2009 effort to bomb an airliner over Detroit and the explosives-laden parcels intercepted the following year aboard cargo flights.  (Source:  The Blaze)

Furthermore…President Obama on Alert - No, this is NOT an Oxymoronic Statement!

Obama's national security adviser, Susan Rice, led the meeting and then joined Lisa Monaco, Obama's assistant for homeland security and counterterrorism, in briefing the president, the White House said in a statement.

"The president has received frequent briefings over the last week on all aspects of the potential threat and our preparedness measures," according to the statement.

Among those at the meeting Saturday afternoon (3 August 2013) were the secretaries of state, defense and homeland security and the directors of the FBI, CIA and the National Security Agency, according to the White House. Also attending was Gen. Martin Dempsey, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

In an interview Friday with ABC News, Dempsey said officials had determined there was "a significant threat stream" and that the threat was more specific than previous ones. The "intent is to attack Western, not just U.S. interests," he said. (Source:  Huff Post World 5 August 2013)

nuclear facilities

Today, 5 August 2013 – a letter from the US Senate pressuring President Obama to exert greater pressure on Iran to cease and desist its hell-bent effort to achieve the “bomb” -

An AIPAC-backed letter urging U.S. President Barack Obama to exert greater pressure on Iran to end its suspected nuclear weapons program garnered the signatures of 76 senators.

NOTE:  Letter, lobbied for by AIPAC, says U.S. must provide a credible military threat against Iran while seeking a diplomatic solution.

The letter, which also called on Obama to seek avenues to diplomatic resolution, outlines what it says are the four “necessary strategic elements” to dealing with Iran: “an explicit and continuing message that we will not allow Iran to acquire a nuclear weapons capability; a sincere demonstration of openness to negotiations; the maintenance and toughening of sanctions; and a convincing threat of the use of force that Iran will believe.

“We must be prepared to act, and Iran must see that we are prepared,” said the letter, which was initiated by Sen. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.), the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

The letter notes overtures by new Iranian President Hassan Rohani to make more transparent a nuclear program Iran insists is peaceful, but also demands that Iran agree to remove 20 percent enriched uranium, which Rohani has said is a non-starter.

The American Israel Public Affairs Committee lobbied for the letter signed by more than three-fourths of the 100 senators. The letter closed Friday and is due to be sent Monday (5 August 2013).

…The U.S. House of Representatives on Wednesday imposed the toughest sanctions ever on Iran, describing it as a critical step to cripple its disputed nuclear program.

The measure, known as the Nuclear Iran Prevention Act, was passed by a 400-20 vote in the House. It came just four days before the inauguration of Iranian President-elect Hassan Rohani.

Ladies and Gentlemen of the jury – what is the real motive for the extreme confluence of events now taking place in the Middle East – all the while Syria is imploding and Egypt is herself on the brink of a protracted power struggle possibly leading to civil war!  Meanwhile the US Senate sends an alarming letter and the Congress passes legislation to curtail Iran’s threat and heads out of Dodge for a less-than-well-deserved vacation awaiting both houses to take up the “get tough with Iran bill” after their August recess by next September (an eternity)?  Go figure – more sound and fury signifying:  SAY WHAT?

Do you – the sheeple of America and the West – perceive what is going on here?

When President Obama made his triumphal entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday of this year (2013) to affirm the UNBREAKABLE ALLIANCE between the USA and Israel – there were implications, both prophetic and geopolitical!

First, let’s consider this:

The Pentagon's biggest bunker-busting bomb has been upgraded with one task in mind: taking out suspected Iranian nuclear facilities built deep under the mountains of the Islamic Republic's northern region. At 30,000 pounds, the Massive  Ordnance Penetrator (MOP) packs brute force and advanced features meant to enable it to destroy Iran's most fortified nuclear site. The bomb is nearly a third bigger than the MOAB, or so-called "Mother of all Bombs" (MOAB) the 22,000-pound previous generation of bunker busters first built in 2003 but never used outside of tests. Officials are confident the newest bunker-buster can dismantle even the deepest and most fortified nuclear facility.

"Hopefully we never have to use it," a senior U.S. official familiar with the development of the new version told The Wall Street Journal. "But if we had to, it would work."

The Pentagon redesigned the bomb with more advanced features intended to enable it to penetrate even deeper, giving it the ability to destroy Iran's most heavily fortified and defended nuclear site. U.S. officials see development of the weapon as critical to convincing Israel that the U.S. has the ability to prevent Iran from getting a nuclear bomb if diplomacy fails, and also that Israel's military can't do that on its own.

American officials have shown Israeli military and civilian leaders secret Air Force video of an earlier version of the bomb hitting its target, according to diplomats who spoke to the newspaper. In the video, the weapon penetrating the ground within inches of its target, then detonates underground, according to people who have seen the footage.

The new and improved MOP, has adjusted fuses to maximize its burrowing power, upgraded guidance systems to improve its precision and high-tech equipment intended to allow it to evade Iranian air defenses in order to reach and destroy the Fordow nuclear enrichment complex, which is buried under a mountain near the Iranian city of Qom. The upgraded MOP designed for Fordow hasn't been dropped from a plane yet.

Iran's Fordow Uranium Enrichment Facility, built under a mountain near the city of Qom, has long been seen as a nearly impenetrable target using conventional weapons. In January 2012, U.S. officials said [they] didn't think their largest bomb could penetrate the bunker where centrifuges enrich the material needed for nuclear bombs.

According to the website of defense contractor and maker Boeing, the MOP includes a GPS navigation system and more than 5,300 pounds of explosives. It measures 20 feet long and is “designed specifically to attack hardened concrete bunkers and tunnel facilities.”

In March, Pentagon officials spoke publicly about the MOP bombs, which are from Boeing and designed to fit exclusively with the B-2 and B-52 bombers, for the first time. The paper reports U.S. officials have demonstrated an earlier version of the bomb's capabilities to Israeli leaders several times recently by showing them a video of the bomb hitting its target in high-altitude testing.

Pentagon officials view the development of the weapon as critical to convincing Israel it can rely on the U.S. to stop Iran from developing nukes, and that the Israeli military cannot do so on its own.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the new version of the MOP has advanced components that would allow it to evade Iranian defense systems to reach the Fordow nuclear complex, which is by numerous accounts buried under a mountain in Iran. This upgraded version has not yet been dropped from a plane.

Pentagon Spokesman George Little says the MOP is far more powerful than its predecessor, the BLU-109. Some estimate it’s as much as 10 times more powerful.

The Pentagon says it has contracted for a total of 20 bombs from Boeing, some of which were delivered in the fall. But, for purposes of operational security it won’t disclose how many. (Source:  Bunker-busting behemoth: Pentagon upgrades bomb with Iranian nukes in mind, May 3, 2013 –

War With Iran: Is Chuck Hagel Giving Israel the Green Light?

Do the math folks – do the math – 2 + 2 = 4.

Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel made a trip to Israel last week to offer yet more military handouts to the region's most militarized country. Hagel announced the U.S. will provide Israel with a lot of high-tech airpower, including new missiles designed to take out antiaircraft systems and heavily-armed, straight-out-of-a-spy-movie Bell Boeing V 22 Osprey helicopters.

The U.S. already gives Israel $8.5 million in military aid per day. Just for reference, that's enough money to flat-out buy houses at median market price for 50 struggling homeowners every single day of the year. And as Hagel noted during his visit to Israel, this doesn't even count the $460 million already spent by the U.S. on Iron Dome, the Israeli missile defense shield (an amount that could buy more than 2,700 foreclosed homes), or the forthcoming $220 million (nearly 1,300 homes) that will be spent on the program.

Hagel didn't say how much money will be spent on the airpower initiative, but given that each individual Osprey is worth about 400 houses, it's probably going to be a considerable expense. The program is apparently part of a regional military aid package totalling $10 billion (I don't even want to think about how many houses that makes). The purpose of the program? To keep Iran in line, of course.

Never mind that, as I've detailed here before, the vast majority of actual experts on Iran (including the head of the Israeli Defense Forces) say that Iran is not developing nuclear weapons and basically poses no threat to anyone. Hagel still seems to think that if we gave that Osprey money to, say, the 16 million children living below the poverty line in the U.S. instead of to the Boeing corporation, Iran would somehow wipe Israel off the map.  (Source:  Andrew Beale, Policymic, 3 months ago)

If you’re shutting down all your Muslim-based USA Embassies – WHAT DO YOU POSSIBLY THINK IS GOING ON HERE?  DUH!

“IRAN is putting up with sanctions that damage its economy rather than accept a deal limiting its nuclear programme. It has developed the capacity to enrich far more uranium than it needs for generating nuclear power or for medical research. And its outgoing president has talked about wanting to wipe Israel off the map. All of which suggests to outsiders that the country intends, at a time of its choosing, to get its hands on nuclear weapons. Iran, for its part, denies that it wants any such thing and points to a fatwa against both the possession and use of nuclear weapons. So how close is Iran to having a nuclear bomb?

To become a nuclear power, a country requires both the fissile material for a bomb and the means of delivering it reliably to its target (“weaponisation” in the jargon). Iran was thought to have suspended work on weaponisation in 2004, but now the International Atomic Energy Agency is not so sure. In order to create a nuclear weapon, Iran would need to convert highly enriched uranium into a metal sphere and make a detonator small enough to fit in the warhead of a ballistic missile. That is not beyond its technological capability.

But does Iran have enough uranium for a bomb? To make one it would need about 20 kilograms of highly enriched uranium. To get there it would need to begin with a larger amount of medium-enriched uranium—somewhere between 94 kilograms and 210 kilograms—and enrich it further. At present it is thought to have around 123 kilograms of medium-enriched uranium. And getting from 20%, the upper limit for medium enrichment, to 80% or 90% is not as hard as getting from 2% to 20%, which Iran has already done. The upshot is that although Iran may not have decided whether it wants a bomb, it already has most of what it needs to build one.  (Source:  The Economist – June 26, 2013)

The last guy, Hitler, who told the Jews he was going to wipe them off the map, did exactly that, or close to it – now, the mastermind behind Iran’s Nuclear designs is about to take his place as President of a Nuclear-Armed Iran…here’s the guy that negotiated with the Neville Chamberlains of the West in telling them that a nuclear-armed Iran is NOT what the good cleric is after….

“In a couple of days, Iran will inaugurate a new president, Hassan Rouhani, which has caused some to speculate that the country is entering a new era. Rouhani has become a favorite “moderate” with much of the Western media, with The New York Times gushing in a recent headline: “President-Elect Stirs Optimism in Iran and West.” But such optimism defies history.

Rouhani has served at the highest levels of the Islamic regime for decades. For 16 years, he served as secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, and he was deputy commander in chief of the defense forces for three years prior to that.

In 2003, he became Iran’s chief negotiator in nuclear talks with Britain, France and Germany aimed at curtailing Iran’s uranium enrichment program. It was his role in those talks that gave rise to his “moderate” credentials. But the evidence suggests his main role was to try to dupe the West by playing for time.

In a speech to the Supreme Council, parts of which were published in 2005, Rouhani claimed Iran suspended activities on nuclear enrichment only in those facilities where they had no technical issues.

“While we were talking with the Europeans in Tehran, “ he boasted, “we were installing equipment in parts of the facility in Isfahan, but we still had a long way to go to complete the project. In fact, by creating a calm environment, we were able to complete the work in Isfahan.”

A new report by the Institute for Science and International Security suggests that Rouhani’s plan worked. According to the study, Iran may achieve the “critical capability” to build a nuclear bomb by mid-2014.

A nuclear-armed Iran would make the world a far more dangerous place than it is today, regardless of who occupies the largely symbolic role of Iranian president.” (Source:  LINDA CHAVEZ: New Iranian leader is no cause for optimism – August 2, 2013).

dumb happens

Now – folks, Israel’s not dumb, and the US, leading from behind, may appear dumb, but, come on guys – two dumbs don’t make a dumber…or something like that!  What appears to be going on here has little or nothing to do with al-Qaida and its alleged terrorist threat.  No, what appears to be going on here is not all that pretty – it’s called:  GET READY FOR THE BIG ONE!

Alex Jones should have caught this one – but, ALAS, could it be that the "conspiratorial types" may have been blindsided by the truth of the matter?  Where did we get our intelligence besides reading the tea leaves – well, where do you think so-called “Armageddon theologians” get their intelligence briefings?  It abides a secret – just know this…green lights are going off all over Israel.  Bombs and delivery systems are being readied in Iran – USA/Western Embassies are all shut down – YOU TRAVEL AT YOUR OWN RISK for the month of August, 2013 and perhaps beyond amongst the piranha nations of the Muslim World…especially, when Iran awaits her anticipated fate – are we calling it?  JUST DO THE MATH!  ‘nough said….well, we’ll give you one more shot at it – check out what Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has to say about all of “this”….

JERUSALEM -- Iran is closing in on having nuclear arms and Israel will stop that from happening, with or without Washington, Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said.

"They're getting closer and closer to the bomb and they have to be told in no uncertain terms that that will not be allowed to happen," Netanyahu told the CBS News program "Face the Nation."

The Obama administration must show "by action" that "the military option which is on the table is truly on the table," Netanyahu said, adding if the White House moves too slowly in Israel's eyes, Israel will do what it must.

"You know, our clocks are ticking in a different pace," he said of Washington and Jerusalem.

"We're closer [to Iran] than the United States. We're more vulnerable. And therefore we'll have to address this question of how to stop Iran, perhaps before the United States does," he said.

"But as the prime minister of Israel, I'm determined to do whatever is necessary to defend my country, the one and only Jewish state, from a regime that threatens us with renewed annihilation."

Netanyahu told the United Nations in September Iran could amass enough enriched uranium to fuel a nuclear bomb by mid-2013.

He told "Face the Nation" Sunday last month's Iranian presidential elections didn't really change anything in Iran's nuclear ambitions, even if U.S. officials view Iranian President-elect Hassan Rouhani, an Islamic cleric, as a relative moderate.

"His strategy is, be a wolf in sheep's clothing. Smile and build a bomb," Netanyahu said of Rouhani, who he said, by contrast, criticized Ahmadinejad "for being a wolf in wolf's clothing." (Source:  Netanyahu warns Israel may attack Iran nukes, Albawaba News, July 15, 2013)
