Unraveling the Revelation


Section IV – Parts 56-57 (H & I)

The above title of this article cannot be found anywhere in the world – I’m fairly convinced of it.  Why?  Well, try to Google it and you’ll come up with anything but nothing that compares and contrasts the final seven-days/Holy Week of Jesus and the Seventieth Week of Daniel’s prophecy…the two weeks are altogether separate and distinct in the eyes of most theologians and, especially, eschatologists.   

Any effort to see if there can be a modicum of greater understanding between the two weeks (Holy Week and the Seventieth Week of Daniel’s prophecy) and perhaps a profound synchronization and harmony of purpose or spiritual juxtaposition…simply do not exist.

What is perhaps more mystifying is why these articles are inserted into Unraveling the Revelation?  Simply put:  It is absolutely mandatory in that the book of Revelation is wrought through and through with the "Testimony of Jesus" which climaxes at the End of Days; and those End of Days merge His Passion Week - the Testimony of Jesus - with Daniel's Seventieth Week prophecy!

The "tribulation saints" have, under the onslaught on Revelation 12-13 endured unmitigated persecution - why?  Answer: "For the Word of God and for the Testimony of Jesus" (Revelation 1:2; 12:17).  Thus, by immersing ourselves into His Passion Week - observing, meditating upon His testimony, Triumphal Entry, boldness to witness and purging the Temple of the money changers, prophetic revelations, intimacy with His disciples - His Last Supper, struggle over the cup in the Garden and High Priestly prayer, His betrayal, mock trials, suffering, bearing of the cross, His ultimate sacrifice, burial and resurrection...reliving His final week...then and then only will we have a true understanding of Daniel's Seventieth Week and its implications in the Revelation.  The two weeks (Passion Week and the Seventieth Week) are inexorably linked - "For the TESTIMONY OF JESUS IS THE SPIRIT OF PROPHECY" (Revelation 19:10) - do you see the connection?  

This article and the one following hard on its heels, far and away, are perhaps the most important series of articles I have ever written – their impact is sufficient to turn the eschatological community on its head - especially, because they lay the foundation to the final segment in this mini-series:  TIME'S UP - From Adam to the Second Coming of Christ - 6,000 Years of Human History.

Such a “spiritual compatibility” between Holy Week and the Seventieth Week, yet future, will, by theological implication destroy the Twin Towers of Christendom:  The fallacy of the crucifixion of Christ taking place on Good Friday or, for that matter, Maundy Thursday (alleged day of the Last Supper), and we may as well throw in Holy Wednesday, also known as Spy Wednesday – the alleged day or night when Judas betrayed Jesus.  The other Tower is the Evangelical inaccurate incorporation or faulty exclusion from the events of the yet future Seventieth Week of Daniel’s prophecy.  Inaccurate, because in their eyes it either is reserved for only Israel by Premillenarian pretribulationists (they believe the Church exits the final Week prior to its commencement through a secret rapture) or the Seventieth Week has already been fulfilled at the first coming of Messiah (Amillenarian or Preterist positions).  No - the Church has been called to bear THE TESTIMONY OF JESUS; while, simultaneously, Israel's Seventieth Week materiality is the supreme witness to Gentile World Powers upon the earth and to the coming Messianic Age, the Seventh Day, when the Kingdoms of this world will have become the Kingdom of our Lord and of His Messiah and He shall reign forever and ever!

Yes, you may find construed within our thesis a misinterpretation for some well-meaning brethern see within the prophecy of Daniel 9:24-27 that the crucifixion of Christ takes place in the “middle of the Week” (Daniel 9:27) and that it was actually Jesus Who broke the “covenant” with the Jews at this time; therefore, there is this modicum of how the Seventieth Week somehow is fulfilled by the crucifixion of Jesus in the middle of the week.  Notwithstanding this bogus attempt to attribute the work of Antichrist to Jesus Christ – there is little, if any, desire on the part of Preterists and Amillenarians in demonstrating that the Passion Week has any other bearing on the Seventieth Week…although Seventh-Day Adventists and some historicists insist that the first 3.5 days/years of Jesus’ ministry leading up to His crucifixion and the following 3.5 days/years unto the gospel being preached to Cornelius fulfills the entire Seventieth Week, this was not the fulfillment of Daniel's Seventieth Week.  His Passion Week prefigures our own Week - the Seventieth Week of Daniel, yet in the IMMEDIATE days and conclusion of man's future.

The idea that the future Seventieth Week of Daniel – clearly demarcated “in the middle of the Week” by Jesus’ reference in Matthew 24:15 by the Abomination of Desolation (NOT his crucifixion per se as we shall see), bears any spiritual counter-distinction to the final seven days of Jesus’ ministry wherein in the middle of Holy Week (chronologically calculated from the Triumphal Entry of Jesus into Jerusalem on the morning of Palm Sunday unto the following Sunday morning of His resurrection – one full week) when Jesus was taken from the cross and placed in the Tomb at sundown, which was the commencement of Passover, 14 Nissan, can be matched with spiritual significance to the Abomination of Desolation “in the middle of the week” is simply “over the top” to most Christians.  They either believe the entire week is fulfilled like the Seventh Day Adventists/Historicists/Preterists or that it is yet future but has no bearing on the past Holy Week – both positions divorce any relationship between the Holy Week and the future Seventieth Week of Daniel.

Without question, in comparing and contrasting these two weeks, we do have somewhat of a “starting point” in that Daniel’s Seventieth Week prophecy found in Daniel 9:24-27 and actually amplified throughout his text from cover to cover insofar as Gentile World Powers, their immediate development; the Image, the entire theme of the Antichrist-Beast, the peculiar visions of the horns, the sacrifice, desolations and the struggle of the saints vs. the Willful King and his nefarious pursuits throughout in reference to the Covenant…both are described as a “week” or Heptad of “7” and the Holy “Week” is 7 days, as is the Seventieth “Week”.

That said, the entire text is incredibly mesmerizing and futuristic in reference to the breakdown of the Seventy Weeks prophecy and the controversy surrounding the final and Seventieth Week – especially fascinating, are the initial 69 Weeks leading up to the Seventieth Week and the prophecy of Messiah the Prince, and the immediate “cutting off” or crucifixion of Messiah – then “the coming prince” who would destroy the sanctuary and the city (70 A.D.) and then the continuation of the Seventieth Week at the “end of days” – along with the special 2,300-day prophecy in Daniel 8:12-14; the actual 2,520 days of the 7-year time frame of the Seventieth Week and the final 75 days broken down into 30 days (unto the 1,290th Day which is 30 days past the 1,260th Day and then the Second Coming of Messiah at the commencement of the 45 days beyond the 1,290th Day unto the 1,335th Day) – all having profound meaning and themes readily picked up in John’s Revelation.

As I kept viewing the Seventieth Week I began to see “men as trees” and then their clarity overwhelmed and once I saw the Holy Week as the very TESTIMONY OF JESUS – also called Passion Week – and how it had an amazing resemblance to the Seventieth Week – my mind was once again blown away.  I feverishly tried to find something, someone else who may have seen this – but I could find no one (and I know that sounds terribly prideful, but I don't mean to convey such an impression) – “Lord, I’m in unchartered waters – what shall I do?”  Well, certainly proceed with caution and see confirmation wherever you can because this is really going to be quite the ride!  I mean, many have seen the Seventieth Week already fulfilled – but Jesus boldly declared in Matthew 24 and Mark 13 that the Abomination of Desolation was yet future…so how could it have been fulfilled, even in 70 AD at the destruction of the Herodian Temple in fulfillment of Matthew 24:1-2, for Jesus mentions the Abomination of Desolation later in reference to the end of the age and the “tribulation of those days – not having anything to do with His prophecy of the destruction of the Herodian Temple!  But if there is a yet future relationship between the Holy Week experienced by Jesus and the Seventieth Week, yet future, then what is it?

Could it be that the “Testimony of Jesus” referred to in the Revelation is glaringly amplified in the first 3.5 days of Holy Week and that the Two Witnesses of Revelation 11, who are given 1,260 days to “prophesy/testify,” experience, after 3.5 days/3.5 years the same fate as their Lord…whose body (i.e., of the Two Witnesses) is left in open exposure in the Street of the Great City, where also their Lord was crucified, for 3.5 days (Revelation 11:9, 11)? 

Part 56 #2

He was placed in the tomb just prior to Passover – 14 Nissan – and “descended into the lower parts of the earth” (Ephesians 4:9-10) for three days and three nights according to the “sign” of Jonah the prophet (Matthew 12:39-41; Luke 11:29-32); and for an additional 12 hours (for it was on Sunday morning He arose from the grave) – therefore, 3.5 days transpired akin to the exposure of the Two Witnesses prior to their resurrection and rapture:  COME UP HERE?  (Rev. 11:9, 11-12) – even so, in that “same hour there was a great earthquake” just as there was at the resurrection of Christ when the stone was rolled away (cf. Rev. 11:13; Matthew 28:2 – “And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat on it.”).

We have been covering Revelation 13 regarding the Beast from the Abyss and other topics in Revelation – all of which are unavoidably linked to the chronology of Daniel’s Seventieth Week insofar as “time, times and half a time; 1,260 days, 42 months, three-and-a-half years, three-and-a-half days” – expressions which most assuredly have to do with Daniel’s Seventieth Week…and above and beyond all of these elements in time there is the overwhelming demarcation wherein the final Week is split in half via the “revelation of the Man of Sin” – what is known as the “middle of the week” and the Abomination of Desolation – the termination of the sacrifice; the breaking of the covenant and the immediate persecution of the saints and the end-time struggle between the children of light and darkness – between the earthlings who, as the Court of Gentiles, are under the leadership of the Beast, the False Prophet and the implementation of the Mark of the Beast and the Worship of the Beast and his Image; and who are determined to trample asunder the Two Witnesses – those who keep the commandments of God and hold to the Testimony of Jesus – who “sing the Song of Moses, the servant of God and the Song of the Lamb”…the great end-time battle between good and evil!

Is there a profoundly “spiritual relationship” between the Abomination of Desolation – the ascending of the Beast from the bottomless pit” in the middle of Daniel’s Seventieth Week and the “descending of the crucified Son of Man into the heart of the earth” in the middle of Holy Week?  There, I said it!

The primary understanding derived from Revelation 13 is the realization the Beast’s “blasphemies” are designed to defame God, His name, His tabernacle and “those who tabernacle in heaven” (Rev. 13:6).  In order to do this it is far more than railing accusations at the Holy but designing a “replacement system” in which instead of worshiping God, bearing His name and expressing His tabernacle – the Beast is empowered by the Dragon to engineer a series of falsehoods whereby, through the assisted efforts of the False Prophet the earthlings will worship the Beast via lying signs and deceptions by those very signs telling those to make an Image to the Beast so that the False Prophet can breathe into it that it comes to life.

The imagery used is that of the parody or falsification of the death and resurrection of Christ – for the “first beast, whose deadly wound was healed” (Rev. 13:3-4, 12).  Somehow, one of the “seven heads” which was “mortally wounded” – which was described as a “deadly wound” … “was healed” (Rev. 13:3).  Think not that the Abomination of Desolation – the revelation of the Man of Sin in “the middle of the week” (i.e., after, if you would, 3.5 days of the Seventieth Week) the one known as the Antichrist, who shall for the final 3.5 days be known as the Beast, the Son of Destruction or Perdition; for as Satan entered into Judas Iscariot (“is going into perdition”) whereby he became known as the Son of Perdition, Son of Destruction, Apollyon/Abaddon (Luke 22:3; John 13:27; 17:12; II Thess. 2:3; Rev. 9:11; 11:8, 11) in the midst of the Holy Week – even so shall Satan enter into the temple/body of the Antichrist, whereby he shall be entitled Apollyon, Son of Perdition, the Beast!

It does not say how the deadly wound was healed and who healed it.  Later in Revelation 17 we read:  “The beast that you saw was, and is not, and will ascend out of the bottomless pit and go into perdition (Lit. go “into Destruction”) … and those who dwell on the earth will marvel…when they see the beast that was, and is not, and yet is (Lit. “shall be present”) (Rev. 17:8).

This phraseology indicates that the parody of the death and resurrection has taken place – for the Beast that “was, and is not” indicates that the “deadly wound” has taken place when we hear “and yet is” or “shall be present” – the parody of the resurrection has transpired.  How did this go down, take place?  Via the ascending Beast from the bottomless pit “going into perdition” or “going into Destruction” it shall be done.

This mysterious expression (viz., “go into perdition”) is not so ambiguous when one considers that this word for “destruction” is used again in reference to the “Angel of the Bottomless Pit” whose very name in Hebrew means Abaddon, which, when interpreted means, “DESTRUCTION.”  So, this “Abaddon” or in Greek, Apollyon (Revelation 9:11 – meaning “DESTROYER”) is NOT a destination but a BEING – the “Angel of the Bottomless Pit” has a name and that very name is DESTRUCTION, the same phenomenon which is engaged in the parody of the death and resurrection or “ascending” of this being.  Therefore, there is this “angelic” connection with the Beast – the Beast who once was the Antichrist, who through his “deadly” or “mortal wound” is raised/ascended from the abyss, the bottomless pit and this angelic figure has “gone into” the Antichrist who has become the Son of Perdition, the Son of Destruction via the Angel from the Abyss...and he does so at the end of 3.5 days - as Jesus descended into hell at His entomement; even so, the exact opposite, the Beast from the Abyss shall manifest himself in the body of Antichrist.

Paul, the Apostle, explains the antithesis of this future phenomenon in this way:

“But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit,

If indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you.

Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.

And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin,

But the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you,

He who raised Christ from the dead

will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.”

(Romans 8:9-11)

“Life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit Who dwells in you” – a most profound expression of the Holy Spirit’s indwelling of the believer.  Even so, it is the parody of this spiritual reality which is the antithesis of “the Spirit of Him Who raised Jesus from the dead.” 

The counterfeit of the indwelling of the Spirit of Him Who raised Christ from the dead – with all lying signs and wonders, after the working of Satan – will, in the “middle of the week” inhabit the Antichrist and thereby shall he “ascend from the bottomless pit” and thence be introduced to the earthlings as the Son of Perdition, Son of Destruction, the Beast and demand the same worship tendered to the Almighty be given to the Dragon, himself and his Image made by his adoring earthlings.

How profound!  The crucifixion of Christ, whereby He “descended” before He “ascended” upon His resurrection, is juxtaposed in the middle of Holy Week to the Beast who “ascends” out of the Bottomless Pit in the middle of the Seventieth Week before, but shall after 3.5 days/3.5 years “descend” into the lake of fire burning with brimstone, while the Dragon is cast into the very bottomless pit (Revelation 19:20; 20:1-3) and is sealed for a thousand years prior to his final stupidity - “shut him up, and set a seal on him, so that he should deceive the nations no more till the thousand years were finished” – contrast this, if you would:  “So they went and made the tomb secure, sealing the stone and setting the guard” (Matthew 27:66).

I wish to overemphasize the occurrence of this radical habitation of evil – this incarnation of supernatural guile and the embodiment of destruction which shall take place.  It’s timing is wholly committed to amplify the final week of our Lord’s passion – don’t be shocked – the Evil One is altogether aware of what happened during the final week of His Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem at the close of the 69th Week:  “Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the command to restore and build Jerusalem until Messiah the Prince, there shall be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks …and after the sixty-two weeks [7 + 62 = 69 weeks] Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself” (Daniel 9:25-26).  Messiah the Prince is introduced at the Triumphal Entry on Palm Sunday morning – at the precise end of the 69-week prophecy – and then Messiah the Prince was “cut off” after four “days” – Nissan 10, 11, 12, and 13.



As I saw these themes played out throughout the counterfeit Antichrist in the midst of the Seventieth Week – it seized upon me that what was going on here might be more profound as a counter-distinction and parody than I had ever thought…what week in human history could or has ever equaled to this most prophetically charged era?  Then it hit me like a ton of Bibles (I’m not given to bricks!) – the very Holy Week from the Triumphal Entry of Jesus into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday unto His final days of testimony and inspection in preparation of His disciples and challenges faced at the Temple to the time of the Olivet Discourse and the End of the Age; from His Last Supper to His high priestly prayer in John 17 and ultimate betrayal by Judas in whom SATAN ENTERED INTO and then the final examination of trial and scourging unto the Cross and Crucifixion – from thence his expiration and burial to His descending into Earth’s core – having spent three days and three nights and then His resurrection morning on Sunday – a time frame lasting some 12 hours beyond the 3 days and 3 nights, which is precisely 7 days * 24 hours = 168 hours – from 6:00 a.m. on Sunday, Nissan 10 unto Sunday 6:00 a.m. Nissan 17 – a perfect 7 days … now do you see where I may be going with this?

Allow me to make one thing perfectly clear – I am not a genius nor a clever person – I simply write what I feel before the Lord that I must communicate freely to the people of God and to the world to alert and warn us all of the time to come – and, I hasten to add, the immediate time to come!  For if we are charged to bear the TESTIMONY OF JESUS – should not we behold the 3.5 days of Holy Week to ascertain and emulate the very Testimony of Jesus given before the people, the religious leadership, the political leadership and before His very disciples – the Testimony to which John attested when he said:  “And he who has seen has testified, and his testimony is true; and he knows that he is telling the truth, so that you may believe” (John 19:35)…but please notice, John bore witness and gave this testimony of Him Who “was already dead, they did not break His legs…but one of the solders pierced His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out … (for) … They shall look on Him whom they pierced” (John 19:33-34, 37)?

Indeed, this is the same testimony expressed by the Two Witnesses of Revelation 11, who, as He, they too shall be slain for the Word of God and for the Testimony of Jesus – and their dead body shall lie exposed in the Street of the Great City, wherein our Lord was crucified, for three-and-one-half days!  Yes, a full Holy Week is comprised of 168 hours in the testimony, suffering, crucifixion, death, burial and resurrection of our Lord – wherein perhaps nearly 40% of the synoptic gospels (Matthew, Mark and Luke) and the Gospel of John are dedicated to this final week of His earthly ministry – SO THIS WEEK IS ALTOGETHER BEYOND IMPORTANCE!

“While much can be said about the insightful teaching and powerful miracles of Jesus, it is His death that is emphasized in Scripture. Matthew devoted 33 percent of his gospel to Jesus’ final week, Mark 37 percent, Luke 25 percent, and John 42 percent. One scholar has also found 175 direct references to Jesus’ death in the New Testament, in addition to those in the Old Testament.” (Mars Hill Church, Jesus Died to Reveal God)

Holy Week – By the Numbers

Therefore:  168 hours * 60 minutes per hour = 4,032 minutes which “432” is the perfect fractal/resemblance of the radius of the Sun’s 432,000 miles – for He is the Bright and Morning Star – the Sun of Righteousness Who shall come again on that great day of God Almighty with Healing in His Wings (Malachi 4:1-2).  And what He’s coming for is His glorious Bride for Whom He laid down His life:

4,032 minutes * 60 seconds (per minute) = 241,920 seconds

2 * 4 * 1 * 9 * 2 = 144

144” is the Wall of the New Jerusalem

241,920/25.20 (the Sacred Cubit) = 9,600

9 + 6 = 15 or 9 * 6 = 54

15 = the Edge of the New Jerusalem

54 = Plato’s Optimal Number for Social Harmony but only through the New Jerusalem

15 + 54 = 69 = Messiah Cut Off after 69 Weeks

Perhaps impressive to some – but we must consider how such a Holy Week can be constituted – for example – is there, like the Seventieth Week of Daniel two parts to the Holy Week?  Can it be divided into 3.5 days + 3.5 days = 7 days – if so, where, how and most meaningfully, why?   For one, if indeed the initial part of His three-and-one-half days is the 12 hours (one-half day) of His Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem – the close of the 69th Week “Until Messiah the Prince” (Daniel 9:25) – whereupon He is acclaimed by the Jews as Israel’s Messiah (Israel) and that at the close of Holy Week (the three days and three nights having been fulfilled) He is resurrected after an additional 12 hours (Sunday night – Saturday after sundown at 6:00 p.m. to sunrise on Sunday morning at 6:00 a.m. – “early in the morning”)…was it not that this was the Feast of Firstfruits so that His resurrection should be seen as:

“…become the firstfruits of them that slept”

“Christ the firstfruits”?

(I Corinthians 15:20, 23)

That is to say:  Christ is the “firstfruits” of those to be resurrected and that His resurrection gave “birth to the Church” – there is no question about this!  Without the resurrection of Christ we would be, as Paul declared:  “Of men most miserable!”  Thus, the final 12 hours bespeaks of the Church’s beginning, for He is the firstfruits of them that believe.  As bookends of the Holy Week – His Triumphal Entry as Israel’s Messiah – Israel (likewise, His journey began at the Mount of Olives, for the symbol of Israel is the Olive Tree) … and His Resurrection is the Church’s declaration – the Church.  Yes, ISRAEL and the CHURCH – are seen at the beginning of Holy Week (Israel) and at the end of Holy Week (the Church) – are not these the TWO WITNESSES?  Two Olive Trees and the Two Lampstands – ISRAEL and THE CHURCH.  I believe so…. And, as usual the numbers attest to both Israel and the Church and to the 144 Cubits of the Wall of the New Jerusalem (Revelation 21:17); for:

12 Hours + 12 Hours

(beginning one-half day of Holy Week and one-half day of Holy Week at the end

of the Week or 2 Sets of 12 = 24 = the 24 Elders)

12 Gates of the New Jerusalem – Names of the Twelve Patriarchs of Israel

12 Foundations of the Holy City –

Names of the Twelve Apostles of the Lamb – the Church

12 Hours = 12 * 60 Min. per hr. = 720 Minutes

(12 Hours of Palm Sunday – 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. – 10 Nissan)


12 Hours = 12 * 60 Min. per hr. = 720 Minutes

(12 Hours of “Resurrection Morning” – 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. – 17 Nissan)

720 Minutes + 720 Minutes = 1,440 Minutes =

144 Cubits – Wall of the New Jerusalem”

1,440 Minutes * 60 Seconds = 86,400 Seconds

864” = Fractal/Resemblance of the 864,000 Mile Diameter of the Sun

The Holy Week = the Sun of Righteousness

Could it be that these “seven days” known as the “Holy Week” (by Catholics and some Reformational Churches) and by many others as the final week of His “passion” – the “Passion Week” – can relate or be seen within the final Week – the Seventieth Week of Daniel’s prophecy prior to the return of Messiah?  For the first time, I believe, this reflection and/or comparison can be made and should be made to contrast the insidious counterfeit yet to come most assuredly upon the earth – the final parody and blasphemy against the ministry of the Christ, the Messiah, the Deliverer – for it was He Who was introduced to Jerusalem as Messiah, the Prince, but within four days He was “cut off” – but through the “power of the resurrection” He came forth – and all this within a seven-day time frame … but now, prior to His return, Antichrist shall arise from his mortal wound via the Angel of the Bottomless Pit – Apollyon – and via his ascending and descending into the Son of Perdition – Son of /Destruction – the DESTROYER – shall we witness the Abomination of Desolation and the commencement of his warfare against the saints (Rev. 13:7) … let us consider....




We need to understand that the Almighty’s reckoning of time before we consider what has become a most complicated time line throughout the past 2,000 years of Church history – what happens when and where during “Holy Week?”  These chronologies become all the more significant if they are inter-related to the final Week of this age! 

On God’s time clock the day begins at dusk, not at mid-night nor at sunrise. This can be proven in that:

“God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night.

And there was evening and there was morning, the first day

And there was evening and there was morning, the second day….

And there was evening and there was morning, the third day….”

 (Genesis 1:5, 8, 13)

The "evening-mornings" 

We immediately notice that in “Biblical Hebrew” evening precedes morning.  In other words:  Evenings (night); Mornings (daylight).  Consequently, it is for this very reason that the Hebrews/Jews have always observed the start of any given day at the beginning at dusk (i.e., the setting of the sun).  This is why the weekly Shabbat or Sabbath begins at sundown on the sixth day (Friday – Gregorian calendar) of the week which marks the beginning (evening) of the seventh day.

The reason I am purposefully truncating – stopping here – is that these 12 hour blocks of evening and morning are the traditional Jewish “time frames” – just as we read in Daniel 8:14“And he said to me, 'For two thousand three hundred ‘evening-mornings’; then the sanctuary shall be cleansed.'" – therefore, in stating “evening-mornings” the absolute emphasis is upon a literal “day” and not, as so many misled and, I hasten to add, as greatly deceived brethren have asserted, that these 2,300 “evening-mornings” are understood to be “years” and not literal days!

“The words of the angel in regard to the two thousand, three hundred days during which the Sanctuary and the Host are to be trodden underfoot, are, perhaps, not so mysterious as they seem.  The literal Hebrew expression is not ‘days,’ but ‘evening-mornings’; that is to say, two thousand, three hundred repetitions of the evening and morning sacrifices—which proves that actual days of twenty-four hours are intended.  And we should note, that seven full prophetic years would contain two thousand five hundred and twenty days; that is, that the time mentioned by the angels is two hundred and twenty days short of seven years” (The Histories and Prophecies of Daniel, G. H. Lang, Paternoster Press, London, 1950, p. 117).

As we introduce the time lines during Holy Week/Passion Week (Note:  Considered to be from Palm Sunday morning unto Resurrection Sunday morning (wherein 12 hours were on Palm Sunday from 6:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. and 12 hours were on Resurrection Sunday beginning on the Jewish time clock at 6:00 p.m. our Saturday evening and extending until 6:00 a.m. Sunday morning) with no overlap…i.e., SEVEN FULL DAYS or a total of 24 hours * 7 full “days” = 168 hours) we must consider the biblical basis for the importance of the Hebrew Feast Days involved in this most spectacular week:  The Preparation Day for Passover (also called “Passover” or “Supper” in the New Testament, and for a reason) – the Day of Unleavened Bread – Passover (High Sabbath Day) – Feast of Unleavened Bread (High Sabbath Day) – Passover Week – the Paschal Lamb – the regular Sabbath Day – Feast of First Fruits…all within Holy Week.

Concerning the feast days, Leviticus 23:4-8 states. 

“These are the feasts of the LORD, even holy convocations,

which ye shall proclaim in their seasons.

In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the LORD'S Passover.

And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread

unto the LORD: seven days ye must eat unleavened bread.

In the first day ye shall have an holy convocation:

ye shall do no servile work therein.

But ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD seven days:

in the seventh day is an holy convocation:

ye shall do no servile work therein.”

Without equivocation it is on 14 Nissan that Passover takes place – but please carefully read the phrase:  “…fourteenth day of the month at even is the LORD’S Passover.”  This means that Passover commences on the evening of the 14th of Nissan and that would mean that the Hebrew commencement falls on our Gregorian day not yet ended for the “evening” which would have begun at 6:00 p.m. the previous day and extending unto the next evening at 6:00 p.m. (as well) which would have commenced 15 Nissan on our same Gregorian calendar day (i.e., "Solar Day") at  6:00 p.m. – therefore, when we say Passover Day we express it as 14/15 Nissan – 14 Nissan.  Validating that Passover falls on 14 Nissan and extends unto 15 Nissan the next day at 6:00 p.m.; compare:  Leviticus 23:5; Numbers 9:5; Numbers 28:16; Joshua 5:10 and II Chronicles 35:1.

The Triumphal Entry – “until Messiah, the Prince” – is recorded in Matthew 21:1-11; Mark 11:1-11; Luke 19:28-44; and John 12:12-19.  One of our clues as to the “Holy Week” timeline is found in John 12:1, 12:

“Then, six days before

 the Passover [before 14/15 Nissan – Thursday – 14 Nissan],

Jesus came to Bethany,” [8/9 Nissan – Friday – 8 Nissan]

where Lazarus was who had been dead,

whom He had raised from the dead.

The next day [10 Nissan] a great multitude that had come to the feast,

when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,

took branches of palm trees and went out to meet Him….”

Nissan 10 – the Day of the Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem –Until Messiah the Prince – Sunday – 6:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.

The operative question is this:  Does the phrase “six days before Passover” give us a clue as to what day Passover would be during the week – as in what day of the Gregorian week?  It was six days before the Passover that Jesus came to Bethany but the next day could not be “Until Messiah the Prince” in fulfillment of Daniel 9:25; however, His Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem – which “day” would have commenced insofar as daylight concerns at 6:00 a.m. that Sunday morning but the “day” would have begun at 6:00 p.m. the previous evening (on our Saturday as in 10/11 Nissan); therefore, in counting time frames for the Triumphal Entry it was between 6:00 a.m. (Sunday Morning) and 6:00 p.m. on Sunday (evening) or 12 hours (1/2 of a “day” – the first 12 hours of the 10/11 Nissan had already expired (6:00 p.m. our Saturday evening to 6:00 a.m. our Sunday morning).

During the first part of Sunday – Nissan 10 (6:00 p.m. Saturday evening unto 6:00 a.m. Sunday morning) the anointing of Jesus by Mary, the sister of Martha, for His burial (John 12:2-8) took place.

On that evening (Saturday night to Sunday morning – which would have been 10 Nissan or 10/11 Nissan) – all were either in fellowship in the home of Lazarus or resting/sleeping and then awoke; and by 6:00 a.m. Sunday morning commenced the proceedings of the Triumphal Entry on 10 Nissan). 

But what we are saying here insofar as “six days before Passover” is that Jesus arrived in Bethany on 8/9 Nissan and then spent the Sabbath (Saturday) of 9/10 in Bethany and then in the morning of 10/11 Nissan Jesus went from the Mount of Olives (Bethphage and Bethany – Luke 19:28-29), into Jerusalem for the Triumphal Entry or we could readily say from 6:00 a.m. Sunday morning until 6:00 p.m. (12 hours) was the time frame for the Triumphal Entry – Palm Sunday.

Thus – these initial six days leading up to the actual Passover must be seen as follows:

Nissan 8     Friday – Jesus’ Arrival at Bethany, the House of Lazarus
Nissan 9   Saturday – Sabbath Day – Jesus stays at Bethany (Day 1)
Nissan 10  Sunday – Triumphal Entry – “Until Messiah the Prince” (Day 2)
Nissan 11  Monday – Jesus confronts the religious leaders at the Temple (Day 3)
Nissan 12  Tuesday – Jesus confronts the religious leaders at the Temple (Day 4)
Nissan 13  Wednesday – Preparation for the Passover – (Day 5)
Nissan 14  Thursday – Passover (High Sabbath Day) – (Day 6)

Establishing the “day” of the traditional Passover is critical; otherwise, we simply cannot conclude when six days before Passover occurred.  Since Passover Day is 14 Nissan or 14/15 Nissan and we are inclusive in our dates – we could determine six days before Passover (inclusive on our dates) to have commenced on 9 Nissan in Bethany where the statement was made the “day before” the Triumphal Entry wherein it clearly states after the “six day” statement “the next day” being the Triumphal Entry. 

Allow me now to go beyond expectation and declare that Jesus was crucified on Wednesday – the Preparation for the Passover Day … and we will explain why this must be the day of His offering – the day He was “cut off” – for we clearly know that from Exodus 12 the Paschal Lamb had to be inspected for “4 days” and then it was killed, but eaten on 14 Nissan, the next day – even so…

10 Nissan – Day 1 – Jesus’ Triumphal Entry - Sunday

11 Nissan – Day 2 – Jesus in the Temple in Jerusalem – Monday

12 Nissan – Day 3 – Jesus prepares for the Upper Room “Supper” – Tuesday

13 Nissan – Day 4 – Jesus’ Trials/Crucifixion/Burial before Passover – Wednesday

The Passover Lamb – after thorough inspection that it was spotless – was “prepared” or slain on the Passover Preparation Day (13 Nissan) and eaten on Passover Day (14 Nissan)).  It is imperative that at the commencement of 14 Nissan (twilight/evening/6:00 p.m. that the lamb is slain (four complete “days” or evenings/mornings having elapsed) and then eaten on the eve of 14 Nissan (twilight/evening).

Therefore, 6:00 p.m. to  6:00 p.m. 10 Nissan (date of His Triumphal Entry – 24 hours (Monday/Sunday); 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. 11 Nissan (Jesus’ Ministry in the Temple/Cleanses it/Confronts Religious Leaders in Testimony; declares 70 A.D. Temple destruction (Matthew 24:1-2), addresses multitudes and gives Olivet Discourse to disciples and returns to Bethany that evening – 24 hours (Sunday/Monday); 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. 12 Nissan (Preparation for the Last Supper – Jesus sends out disciples to arrange for the upper room.) – 24 hours (Monday/Tuesday).

Between 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. 13 Nissan (Last Supper, Gethsemane Prayer, Betrayal/Capture, Religious/Political Trials and by 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning:  BEHOLD THE MAN, announced by Pilate – then three hours of scourging and release of Barnabas and Jesus bearing His cross to Golgotha; He is hung on the cross at the 3rd Hour of the DAY for three hours (9:00 a.m. until the sixth hour (our Noon) in “daylight” and then from the sixth hour (Noon) until the ninth hour (3:00 p.m.) in darkness over the whole earth – and then the Lamb expires – taken down from the cross for it was not permissible to leave Him on the cross during Passover and laid in the tomb by that evening at 6:00 p.m. which would be a total of 24 hours (Tuesday/Wednesday on "Jewish time") unto the commencement of 14 Nissan, Passover – therefore, 4 full “days” (evenings and mornings) – the Lamb was slain at TWILIGHT as the sun was going down on 13 Nissan for the Preparation for the Passover and then the Passover was eaten on 14 Nissan.

Now the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying, This month shall be your beginning of months; it shall be the first month of the year to you. Speak to all the congregation of Israel, saying: ‘On the tenth of this month (i.e., 10 Tishrei) every man shall take for himself a lamb, according to the house of his father, a lamb for a household. And if the household is too small for the lamb, let him and his neighbor next to his house take it according to the number of the persons; according to each man’s need you shall make your count for the lamb. Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year. You may take it from the sheep or from the goats. Now you shall keep it until the fourteenth day of the same month. Then the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it at twilight. (i.e., 13 Nissan) And they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel of the houses where they eat it.Then they shall eat the flesh on that night; roasted in fire, with unleavened bread and with bitter herbs they shall eat it. Do not eat it raw, nor boiled at all with water, but roasted in fire—its head with its legs and its entrails. 10 You shall let none of it remain until morning, and what remains of it until morning you shall burn with fire. 11 And thus you shall eat it: with a belt on your waist, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand. So you shall eat it in haste. It is the Lord’s Passover. (Exodus 12:1-11)

[Note: Year-old ("a male of the first year") = 360 days * 24 hours = 8,640 hours or “864” is a fractal of the Sun’s 864,000 mile diameter or this foreshadows the Lamb of God as the Sun of Righteousness and 8,640 hours * 60 minutes = 518,400 minutes or 5…18…4 signifying the “54” which surrounds the “18” or the 5040 Optimal Number for Societal Harmony but only as the “18” of the New Jerusalem; and 518,400 minutes * 60 seconds = 31,104,000 seconds / 144 (New Jerusalem’s Wall) = 216,000 seconds wherein “21600” is the fractal/resemblance of the Earth’s circumference in 21,600 nautical miles – for “Behold, the Lamb of God Who takes away the sin of the world”….John 1:29…the commencement of Jesus’ ministry on the very Day of Atonement.]

12 “On that same night I will pass through Egypt and strike down every firstborn of both people and animals, and I will bring judgment on all the gods of Egypt. I am the Lord. 13 The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you are, and when I see the blood, I will pass over you. No destructive plague will touch you when I strike Egypt.”  (Exodus 12:12-13)

The Paschal Lamb is slain at twilight (“between the evenings”) – as Jesus was slain just prior to sundown on the Passover Preparation Day and by 3:00 p.m. (the “ninth hour”) His physical body expired, was shortly thereafter removed from the Cross and prepared and buried in a nearby tomb provided by Joseph of Arimathea BEFORE the commencement of Passover Day at 6:00 p.m. that “twilight/evening.”

Although there were precisely 4 days with 24 hours per day * 4 = 96 hours (Nissan 10-13 inclusive), we must keep in mind that the Triumphal Entry did not commence until the dawn/morning of Sunday wherein only 12 hours was left of Nissan 10; therefore, there were 3.5 days which extended from the dawn of Nissan 10 unto the twilight of Nissan 13 – how precise is the divine plan of the Almighty!

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son” (John 3:16) – and in these 96 hours that is precisely what was happening…for:

96 hours * 60 minutes = 5,760 minutes

5,760 minutes * 60 seconds = 345,600 seconds

3456 = “36” surrounding “45

“36” = the Eternal God as in 360° of a Circle without Beginning or Ending

“45” is the very Sun of Righteousness and equals the 45 Days of Daniel 12:12

God the Father offered up His Only Son as our Savior – that’s why 96 hours/4 days

I’ve purposefully skipped ahead of myself here because we have set ourselves to determine the precise series of events during the Passion Week to validate our findings and juxtapose them to Daniel’s Seventieth Week using “days” vs. “years” in that Daniel’s Seventieth Week may be determined as a Week or 7 days with the first part being three-and-a-half days/years and the latter part being three-and-a-half days/years to equal seven full “days” or years. 

The “spiritual implications” of this would-be overlay of the Passion Week atop the Seventieth Week of Daniel are staggering in that Holy Week shall be mirrored by those “Who keep the Commandments of God and have the Testimony of Jesus” at the “end of days.”


Now, if there were six days until Passover (14 Nissan) and the “next day” was on Palm Sunday, the day of Messiah, the Prince, and His Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem to conclude the 69th Week and, consequently (as I am suggesting) to “prefigure” the 70th Week of Daniel’s prophecy in that after the 69th Week is the 70th Week, then that Palm Sunday would simultaneously commence the final week.  Allow us to expand the “events of the days” as follows:

1.  8/9 Nissan – Friday – 8 Nissan - Jesus arrives in Bethany 6 days before Passover (6 days being:  9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 Nissan or 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 Nissan)

2.  9/10 Nissan – Saturday/Sabbath Day - 9 Nissan – at meal with Lazarus in Bethany – 6 days before Passover (Note:  6 days is “inclusive” – i.e., 9/10 Nissan to 14/15 Nissan or 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 Nissan or, as above, we may count from 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 Nissan as six days to 14 Nissan, Passover)

3.  10/11 Nissan – Palm Sunday – 10 Nissan – Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem – “Until Messiah the Prince – 6:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. – 12 hours or one-half of a “day”

4.  11/12 Nissan – Monday – 11 Nissan – 24 hours – Temple Contestations

5.  12/13 Nissan – Tuesday – 12 Nissan – 24 hours – Temple Contestations– Jesus addresses the “multitudes” – Olivet Discourse with Disciples

8.  15/16 Nissan – Friday – 15 Nissan – 24 hours - Feast of Unleavened Bread – “High Sabbath Day” – Jesus entombed – continuation of His 3 days and 3 nights in the grave as the sign given of the prophet Jonah

9.  16/17 Nissan – Saturday – 16 Nissan – 24 hours - Regular Sabbath Day – Jesus entombed – third day

10. 17/18 Nissan – Sunday – 17 Nissan – 12 hours – Jesus Resurrected – Feast of Firstfruits (early in the morning on the first day of the week or an additional 12 hours from the previous sunset at 6:00 p.m. on our Saturday night and the beginning of the Hebrew day that evening at 6:00 p.m. and continuing 12 hours unto the next morning on 17 Nissan at 6:00 a.m.)

We must remember these pertinent words of Jesus relative to the “sign” given concerning Himself:

“An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign

and no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. 

For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish,

so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth

(Matthew 12:39-40; Luke 11:29-32)


What, then, are the “three days and three nights in the heart of the earth” to which Jesus referred?  We must understand that it was from sundown at 6:00 p.m. unto sundown the next day at 6:00 p.m. that a full day was expressed by the Jews – i.e., that is precisely why “days” are expressed at times as 14/15 Nissan; meaning, the evening commences the Passover at 6:00 p.m. – Wednesday begins on our Tuesday evening – and extends itself throughout that evening (night) and continues throughout the next day (daylight hours) unto the next 6:00 p.m. when the 15th of Nissan commences (Thursday begins) and is known as 15/16 Nissan (repeating the same). 

Therefore, we read in Matthew 27:62 after Joseph of Arimathea, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary laid the body of Jesus in the tomb:  “On the next day (Passover Sabbath or 14/15 Nissan), which followed the Day of Preparation (i.e., Wednesday, the day of His crucifixion – the Day of Preparation or 13/14 Nissan), the chief priests and Pharisees gathered together to Pilate, saying, ‘Sir, we remember, while He was still alive, how that deceiver said, ‘After three days I will rise’” (Matthew 27:60-63 excerpts)… “Now after the Sabbath (i.e., the normal Saturday Sabbath or 16/17 Nissan), as the first day of the week (i.e., Sunday or 17/18 Nissan) began to dawn, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb” (Matthew 28:1).

Furthermore, in determining the day of His crucifixion, we read from John’s Gospel the following:

“Now before the Feast of the Passover,

when Jesus knew that His hour had come that

He should depart from this world to the Father,

having loved His own who were in the world,

He loved them to the end.

And (during) supper being ended,

the devil having already put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot,

Simon’s son, to betray Him….”

(John 13:1-2)

Here, John clearly specifies that Jesus and the disciples were at supper (i.e., the so-called “Last Supper”) where Jesus washed the feet of the disciples and where Judas betrayed Jesus and the statement is given:  “Satan entered him” (John 13:27).  What was this “supper”? – Was it not the Day of Unleavened Bread?   Yes, though it was before Passover Day – being the day before Passover – it was still called the “Passover Super” celebrated by Jesus and the Disciples – for it clearly states in Matthew 26:17-18 of the same time frame:

“Now on the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread

the disciples came to Jesus, saying to Him,

‘Where do You want us to prepare for You to eat the Passover?’ 

And He said, ‘Go into the city to a certain man,

and say to him, ‘The Teacher says,

‘My time is at hand, I will keep the Passover

at your house with My disciples.’’” 

So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them,

and they prepared the Passover.”

(Matthew 26:17-19)

The Apparent Contradiction between John’s Gospel and the Synoptic Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke)

Wait a minute – how could Jesus be having the Passover (traditional 14 Nissan date) when He was crucified on the Preparation Day (13 Nissan) of the Passover with the Passover the next day?  Ah – many a foolish soul has tripped up on this chronology to their own detriment – everything from “exposing” that the New Testament has “mistakes” in it and far worse, that this unequivocally declares that Jesus was not the Messiah!  Allow me to unravel the apparent contradiction, for Matthew 26:17-19 is not alone – likewise we find the same conundrum in Mark 14:12-16 and Luke 22:7-13, compounded by John’s accounting in John 13:2-4; 18:28, 39; 19:31, 42 – all pointing to His crucifixion on the Preparation Day of the Passover and not on Passover Day.

At issue in the minds of some (and mine as well) has to do with this verse found in Matthew 26:17, 19-20):

“Now on the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread

the disciples came to Jesus, saying to Him,

‘Where do You want us to prepare for You to eat the Passover?’

So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them;

and they prepared the Passover.”

(Matthew 26:17, 19-20)

(Cf. Mark 14:12-16; Luke 22:7-13)

The first day ... - The feast continued “eight” days, including the day on which the paschal lamb was killed and eaten, Exodus 12:15. That was the fourteenth day of the month Abib (i.e., 14 Nissan).  Furthermore, in Exodus 12:17-19 it declares:

“So you shall observe the Feast of Unleavened Bread,

for on this same day I will have brought your armies out of the land of Egypt.  Therefore you shall observe this day

throughout your generations as an everlasting ordinance. 

In the first month, on the forteenth day of the month at evening,

you shall eat unleavened bread, until the twenty-first day of the month at evening.  For seven days no leaven shall be found in your houses,

since whoever eats what is leavened,

that same person shall be cut off from the congregation of Israel,

whether he is a stranger or a native of the land.”

“Feast of Unleavened Bread” - Called so because during those eight days no bread made with yeast or leaven was allowed to be eaten. Luke says, “in which the Passover must be killed” - that is, in which the “paschal lamb,” or the lamb eaten on the occasion, was killed. The word in the original, translated “Passover,” commonly means, not the “feast” itself, but the “lamb” that was killed on the occasion, Exodus 12:43Numbers 9:11John 18:28. See also 1 Corinthians 5:7, where Christ, “our Passover,” is said to be slain for us; that is, our paschal lamb, so called on account of His innocence, and His being offered as a victim or “sacrifice” for our sins.

Why does it say “the first day of Unleavened Bread”?  The word “day” is italicized in the book of Matthew, in the King James Version because the word was added by the translators, and not found in the original writings. The other two gospel accounts are worded so that the references to Unleavened Bread and the Passover seemed to be happening simultaneously. During this time in history, the Jews were interchanging the names of the commanded days. Why?

During the time of the Jewish exile to Babylon (beginning about 587 B.C.), some of the Jews began to keep the two as a combined observance. We won’t take the time to elaborate on the historical events, but this custom of referring to the entire period from Passover through the days of Unleavened Bread by the one name continued into the time of the Messiah. We can see this in Luke 22:1: “And the Festival of Unleavened Bread drew near, which is called Passover.” This verse shows the interchanging of names between the two observances. In Mark 14:1, however, the two observances are mentioned as being separate.

“Biblical months consisted of only 30 days, the date that Jesus and the Disciples celebrated the Passover Seder (now called by early Church ‘Tradition’ Mark 7:8 The Lord's Supper) was a Wednesday (Nissan 13 evening) – [our Tuesday evening]. Since many Jewish people were still living outside of Israel (since the Babylonian exile), there was an ordinance that the Passover could be observed within the first 24 hours before the actual Day of Passover until the last 24 hours after the actual day of Passover and still accepted as Kosher (or Fulfilling the Law requirements for Passover) this is due to time zone differences. Jesus and His Disciples (as Jews living in Israel) Celebrated the Passover Seder meal Prior to the actual time of the traditional Passover.” (When Was Jesus Crucified – Answers)

Von D. Chwolson’s Clarification of John’s Accounting of the Passover

Although somewhat lengthly, the Von D. Chwolson clarification found in “The Jewish Quarterly Review” (St. Petersburg, 1892) beginning on page 680 gives us another glimpse at the alleged discrepancy between the Gospel of John’s remarks and those of the Synoptic Gospels (Matthew, Mark and Luke) regarding the “advancement of the Passover” on to the Preparation Day of the Passover as recorded in John’s Gospel…ultimately, Chwolson reconciles the alleged discrepancies and proves, based on ancient Halachic interpretation of the law, the “supper” could be held on 13 Nissan or 13/14 Nissan.

“The famous author of this essay [Chwolson], which is published in the Memoires of the Imperial Academy of St. Petersburg [1892], endeavors to remove an old difficulty in the exegesis of the New Testament, and to unravel decisively a contradiction between the Synoptic Gospels and the Gospel of St. John.  This attempt gives the author the opportunity to treat of an important period in the internal history of Judaism, and to illustrate in a new way certain questions connected with the origin of Christianity.  The relation of the Pharisees to the Sadducees serves Chwolson as the subject of new hypotheses based on the Halachic traditions.  The essay before us points out, first of all, how necessary the full knowledge of the literature of the Jewish tradition is for the correct understanding of the New Testament.  At the same time the essay brings forward some surprising results, and thereby becomes an interesting contribution to the history of Judaism in the last decades of the Second Temple.

“The starting point of Chwolson’s essay is the question: On which day did Jesus celebrate the last Paschal supper?  …The question is connected with the contradiction which exists between the report of the three Synoptical Gospels, and that of St. John.  In the Gospel of Matthew 26:17, it is stated that the disciples of Jesus asked him, ‘on the first day of unleavened bread,’ where he wished to eat the lamb of the Passover.  Mark 14:14 relates more distinctly:  ‘On the first day of unleavened bread, when they sacrificed the Passover,’ and Luke 22:7, ‘the day of unleavened bread, on which the Passover must be sacrificed.’  Now, the day of the offering of the lamb was the 14th Nissan; the following day, the 15th, would have been consequently the day of the crucifixion of Jesus.  According to the Fourth Gospel, however, the day of the crucifixion was ‘the day before Passover’ (St. John 19:14), consequently the 14th Nissan, so that Jesus would have held the Passover meal on the day before, on the 13th Nissan [i.e., the evening beginning on 13/14 Nissan or the “day” ending on 12 Nissan and going into 13 Nissan at 6:00 p.m.].

“By Chwolson’s conjecture the statement of the Gospel of St. John that Jesus celebrated the last Paschal supper on the 13th Nissan [Note: Evening of the 13th]….Why did Jesus celebrate the Paschal meal not on the day that was fixed by law, on the 14th Nissan, but on the day before?  This difficulty, which now concerns not only the Gospel of St. John, but the Synoptical Gospels likewise, is also removed by Chwolson.  The explanation of it leads into the territory of the Halacha [the collective body of religious laws for Jews], and is therefore introduced by Chwolson in an excursus on the history of the Halacha, mainly of the ancient Halacha, the nature of which can be only inferred from the hints and survivals of earlier traditions.  Chwolson’s explanation is founded on the same theory as was urged by the Nestor of investigations on Talmudic sources, Joseph Derenbourg, fifty-three years ago.  Derenbourg endeavored to remove the same difficulty.  He assumed, that in the year of the crucifixion the 14th Nissan fell on Sabbath, and the offering of the Passover had to be displaced to an earlier day, but not to the day before, to Friday, for the lamb could not have been roasted on that day, but to Thursday, the 12th Nissan.  Jesus celebrated his last Paschal meal on the evening of the 12th Nissan, which meal, according to the hypothesis of Derenbourg, was not a real Paschal meal, and is, therefore, called in John 13:2, only “supper.”  This supposition is based on the assumption, that the Halachic rule, which was later on generally accepted, was not yet recognized in the time of Jesus. 

“As regards the consuming of the Passover in the case of such an antedating of the offering [i.e., moving the date from 14 Nissan to 13 Nissan], there were according to Chwolson’s hypothesis two views:  the first declared that the Passover meal must have been celebrated on the evening of the 13th Nissan; because it is commanded in Exodus 12:8 and Numbers 9:11 to consume the Paschal lamb on the same night, and not to leave anything of it till the next morning.  According to the other view the Passover meal was to be held on the evening of the 14th Nissan, and this is based chiefly on Deut. 16:4 that the lamb had to be entirely consumed only before the morning of the 15th Nissan.

“The first view was accepted by Jesus and his disciples, who celebrated the Paschal meal on the evening of the 13th Nissan, whereas the High-priest Caiaphas and his attendants shared the other view.  For this reason the latter were unwilling to enter the Praetorium on the day of the crucifixion, in order not to be defiled and become unfit to eat the Paschal lamb on the same evening (John 18:28).  This is the quintessence of Chwolson’s hypothesis, which indeed removes in a simple way all difficulties, and confirms the statements of the Fourth Gospel, which, according to Chwolson’s conjecture, completely agree with the Synoptical Gospels.  Only we have to accept all his hypotheses.  Chwolson himself answers [in summary] two objections that might be brought forward against his explanation:  (1) How could the offering of the Passover, which is fixed for the 14th Nissan, be displaced to the 13th?  (2)  How is it possible that the time during which the Passover had to be sacrificed in the Temple was confined to this evening twilight, whereas this short space of time could by no means have been sufficient for the great number of the lambs which had to be offered?


“To answer the first objection, Chwolson refers to the displacing of the festivals, which was connected with the fixing of the New Moon, the intercalation of a month, etc., a displacing which was caused by the ancient practice of fixing the New Moon, and was also retained when the rules of the calendar became formulated.  This analogy seems to me not quite correct, since the question does not concern the ante-dating or postponing of a festival, but the transference of a religious act from one day to an earlier.  Moreover, the 14th Nissan retained its dignity as the real day of the sacrifice and as the eve of the festival of unleavened bread, even when the offering of the Paschal lamb was brought on the 13th Nissan.  Chwolson himself supposes that the Priests celebrated the Paschal meal, even in the case of such transference, on the 14th Nissan...Chwolson also discusses the question whether unleavened bread was eaten with the Paschal lamb at the last supper of Jesus which took place on the 13th Nissan.  Based upon a passage in the Mechilta [connected] to Exodus 12:8.

“SUMMARY:  In the foregoing pages I have summarized Chwolson’s hypothesis, and have omitted all his arguments on secondary questions.  The hypothesis is based on the supposition that the Temple service at the time of Christ followed, not the decisions of the Pharisaic authorities, but the doctrines of the Sadducees.  Thus the official Halacha, viz., that adopted by the Temple, was then Sadducean.  Chwolson first applies this supposition to the rule which, according to the Talmud, was adopted on the suggestion of Hillel, and in spite of the opposition of the Beni Bathyra, long before the crucifixion of Jesus, the rule, ‘The Passover takes precedence of the Sabbath.’  Chwolson, critically examining the statements regarding this Halacha (J. Pesachim, v. l; B. Pensachim, 66a), considers himself to have proved that Hillel’s thesis was not in fact fully accepted at the time of Christ, and that the opposite view (which agreed with the extant practice of the Samaritans when the 14th Nissan falls on Sabbath), remained in force until the last decades of the Temple.” (The Jewish Quarterly Review, Vol. 5, No. 4, Jul., 1893, Das letzte Passahmah… - published by University of Pennsylvania Press)

The Events of 13/14 Nissan – Tuesday Night and Wednesday Day

John 13-17 takes place during the evening before the Passover or on 13/14 Nissan (Tuesday) for on13/14 Nissan (our Tuesday evening was the beginning of the Jewish Wednesday – would have been the Passover Day of Preparation); and after His “high priestly prayer” of John 17 in the Garden of Gethsemane, the betrayal was completed and they bound Jesus and took him away to Annas first, for he was the father-in-law of Caiaphas, who was the high priest that year (John 18:1-14)...again, all this on 13 Nissan, having commenced at 6:00 p.m. which would still have been the Gregorian Solar Year Tuesday (for six more hours until midnight when it would have converted over to Wednesday, but still the Jewish 13 Nissan).

It is here in John 19:14, after repeated interrogations before religious and civil leaders on Nissan 11 and 12 that we clearly read:  “Now it was the Preparation Day of the Passover [Nissan 13] and about the sixth hour.  And he (Pilate) said to the Jews, ‘Behold your King!’”  Again, this being on 13 Nissan – Wednesday.  This “sixth hour” is not the noon or sixth hour spoken of in other gospels (Matthew 27:45; Mark 15:33; Luke 23:44) but is read in this manner:

14 It was about ·noon [L the sixth hour; C hours were counted from dawn, about 6 AM] on Preparation Day of Passover week. Pilate said to ·the crowd [L the Jews], “·Here is your king! [L Look, your king! or Look at your king!]”  (John 19:14).

In other words, the “sixth hour” spoken of in John 19:14 is not the “noon sixth hour” as referred to in the other gospels (i.e., 12 Noon, Wednesday) but very clearly the early morning of Passover Preparation Day (Nissan 13 or 13/14 Nissan – Wednesday early morning) which had been on-going since the previous twelve hours beginning of the actual evening of 13 Nissan (12 hours having already elapsed wherein the Last Supper was held, Jesus’ Prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane and subsequent betrayal, capture and “trials” (our Gregorian calendar Tuesday evening and beginning from midnight until 6:00 a.m. in the morning of our Wednesday, as well as the Jewish 13 Nissan Wednesday)  – thus, the final twelve hours of 13 Nissan (now Wednesday) commenced at 6:00 a.m. in the morning on Wednesday and continued until 6:00 p.m. when 14 Nissan, Thursday, would have begun.  It was during this 13/14 Nissan (commencing at 6:00 p.m. on our Tuesday evening) that all of the above went down until Jesus was captured and then ultimately brought into Pilate and by 9:00 a.m. Wednesday – Nissan 13 – Preparation for the Passover Day having continued into the "morning" 12 hour time frame on the Jewish day – that Jesus commenced the bearing of the cross and His ultimate crucifixion.

However, that said, the other gospels record that darkness covered the earth from the “sixth hour” unto the “ninth hour” – meaning that this “sixth hour” was the “sixth hour” of the “day time” (i.e., "morning") which would have been at Noon (i.e., from 6:00 a.m. until Noon constituted six hours of day and thus, the “sixth hour” would have been Noon and the “ninth hour” would have been 3:00 p.m. in the afternoon (Jewish  – but still all on 13 Nissan, Passover Preparation Day.

Further justification for Jesus’ crucifixion on the Preparation Day of Passover and his subsequent burial that day is found in John 19:31, 42.

“Therefore, because it was the Preparation Day,

that the bodies should not remain on the cross on the Sabbath

(for that Sabbath was a high day), (i.e., Passover High Sabbath Day)

the Jews asked Pilate that their legs might be broken,

and that they might be taken down…

so there they laid Jesus, because of the Jews’ Preparation Day,

for the tomb was nearby.”

This is simply the first segment in this mini-series regarding the PASSION WEEK – from Sunday to Sunday – of Jesus.  We’ll be carrying the next and final segment of this mini-series within Unraveling the Revelation which is peppered with allusions to the 70th Week of Daniel’s prophecy to such an extent that we must pause here to reflect on how the final 7 days of the ministry of Jesus, if you would, the TESTIMONY OF JESUS, mirrors the final week of prophecy.  The glaring fact that it does, though few have ever seen it before, is somewhat baffling. May the Lord continue to bless us all as we uncover these wondrous truths in this, The Wonderful Numbers of Sacred Canon.

Unraveling the Revelation


Section IV – Part 57 (I)

This is the “second installment” on how the Passion Week of Jesus – from His Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem on what we affirm to be Nissan 10, 29 March 33 A.D. – mirrors the very vision of the Seventy Weeks prophecy of Daniel 9:24-27; in particular the Seventieth Week itself!  The ministry of Jesus, from all accounts, commenced on the Day of Atonement and extended through four Passovers; concluding at His crucifixion on Passover Preparation Day, 13/14 Nissan, 1 April, 33 AD.  The charts in this section are of great value in your study of the Scripture. 

It will be a shock to some traditionalists who are determined that Jesus was crucified on Good Friday and placed in a tomb that evening which would have been the beginning of the Jewish Sabbath…but such was not the case!  He was in the tomb on our Tuesday evening – the beginning of the Jewish Wednesday, which fell on 14 Nissan (Passover) in that bodies of the crucified were not permitted to stay on the cross during Passover.

But as Jonah was in the belly of the great fish for three nights and three days, even so was Jesus; however, He stayed an addition evening (Saturday evening to Sunday morning 6:00 p.m. our Saturday unto 6:00 a.m. our Sunday morning) for a total of 3.5 days; having commenced His entombment on the Jewish Thursday at 6:00 p.m. (still our Wednesday – April 1, 33 AD, also the day of His crucifixion). This was on 14/15 Nissan (He being buried on Passover eve.). 

It is 14/15 Nissan in that by 6:00 p.m. (24 hours) the Jewish Friday commenced (still our Thursday), this being 15/16 Nissan (the second full “night and day” in the belly of the great fish).  It is 15/16 Nissan in that by 6:00 p.m. (24 hours) the Jewish Saturday commenced (still our Friday).  Then came 16/17 Nissan at 6:00 p.m. (still our Saturday) but commencing the Jewish Sunday but on 16/17 Nissan’s 24 hours He spent His third “night and day” in the “heart of the earth.” 

This brings us to the Jewish Sunday which commenced at 6:00 p.m. (our Saturday evening) and extended for 12 hours unto Sunday morning at 6:00 a.m. (6 hours of which were on our Sunday but 12 hours which were on the Jewish Sunday) and this meant that He, though resurrected, did not “show Himself” to any of the disciples; therefore, this was his FOURTH evening – 4 “nights” and 3 “days.”  What gives?  This, we affirm is matched by the first 3.5 days of the Passion Week having commenced on Palm Sunday at 6:00 a.m. in the morning unto 6:00 p.m. in the evening – this 12 hours or one-half day segment was on 10 Nissan and was Sunday for both Jewish and Gregorian calendars; however, at 6:00 p.m. that Sunday evening commenced the “Jewish Monday” whereas the solar calendar persisted for another 6 hours as Sunday and converted over at 12 midnight (6 hours) to Monday “morning.” 

Therefore, it too was a period of 3.5 days with there being 4 days and 3 nights – just the reverse of the 4 nights and 3 days at the latter half of the Passion Week; thus, there are 7 full “days” with Sunday being “sliced” in half – 12 hours at the beginning of the Week (daylight) and 12 hours at the end of the Week (night). 

It is truly a memorable week matching the 70th Week of Daniel in that there are 3.5 days at the commencement of the week or 1,260 days or 3.5 years, 42 months or time, times and half a time and then the Abomination of Desolation; and then the final 3.5 days, 3.5 years, 42 months, 1,260 days, time, times and half a time to conclude the Week – a stunning discovery indeed!

What makes this so remarkable in juxtaposing the Passion Week with the Final Week of human history, as we know it, is this:  The very Testimony of Jesus given during the first 3.5 days of His Passion Week with his bold witness to the religious, political leadership and to the masses, as well as His declarations on the Mount of Olives (the so-called Olivet Discourse); His intimacy with His disciples at the Last Supper; his high priestly prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane; His betrayal by Judas, capture, mock trials and scourging, and finally His crucifixion – then His three nights and three days in the “belly of the great fish” – and the peculiar one-half day to equal 3.5 days on Sunday morning and ultimate resurrection – all are reflected in the final 7 days of the 70th Week of Daniel, if you would:  OUR PASSION WEEK…as you shall see....

Further Clarifications

According to Matthew 21:1-5 Jesus and the disciples had gone up toward Jerusalem from Jericho via Bethpage, at the Mount of Olives, where Jesus commissioned several disciples to fetch him the donkey, and a colt with her – thus commenced His Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives – therefore, it most certainly was on Palm Sunday (10 Nissan or 10/11 Nissan). 

I think it fascinating that this is the Mount that the “glory of the LORD went up from the midst of the city and stood on the mountain, which is on the east side of the city” as Judah was going into Babylonian Captivity (Ezekiel 11:23).  He began His “Triumphal Entry” into Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives/Bethany from where He ascended 10 days before Pentecost or 40 days after His resurrection (Luke 24:50-51; Acts 1:9-12). 

This will also be where His foot shall stand on that day of His coming again to Earth in glory as the King of kings:  “And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, which faces Jerusalem on the east.  And the Mount of Olives shall be split in two, from the east to west, making a very large valley” (Zechariah 14:4).  However, on Sunday evening (beginning of the Jewish day of Monday) Matthew says:  “Then He left them and went out of the city (Jerusalem) to Bethany, and He lodged there [that would have been on 11 Nissan or 11/12 Nissan]…Now in the morning [11 Nissan – 12 hours remaining of that “day” or Monday], as He returned to the city (i.e., Jerusalem), he was hungry” (Matthew 21:17-18).  It is on this day that Matthew 21:18 – 26:1 takes place – all within the Temple environs where Jesus is interrogated by chief priests and the elders of the people, the Pharisees, the Sadducees and the Scribes.  He then departed with the disciples and on the next day He addressed the multitudes and then the disciples at the Mount of Olives where He gave the so-called Olivet Discourse (Matthew 24-25)…all this taking place on 11 Nissan, Monday and 12 Nissan, Tuesday.


So, Jesus would have spent the commencement of 9 Nissan (Friday night) in Bethany for Saturday Sabbath (day) and then Saturday night would have commenced Nissan 10 and the Triumphal Entry the next morning and then at the completion of Sunday at 6:00 p.m. 11 Nissan would commence (Jewish Monday) where Jesus returned to Bethany again; and then while it is still Monday morning on 11 Nissan through 11 Nissan 6:00 p.m. (Monday) Jesus contends with the high priest, chief priests, scribes, Pharisees, lawyer of the Pharisees, Sadducees – addresses the multitudes and gives His disciples the Olivet Discourse – quite a Monday!

Yes, in Matthew 21:17 Jesus did return to Bethany after the Triumphal Entry for Monday evening, but on Monday morning – again 11 Nissan having commenced – He contended with chief priests and the elders of the people, as well as Pharisees (Matthew 21:23, 45); the disciples of the Pharisees and the Herodians (Matthew 22:15-16); and on the “same day” with the Sadducees (Matthew 22:23); a lawyer who was a Pharisee (Matthew 22:34-35); to the multitudes and His disciples (Matthew 23:1-39); then just to His disciples in giving the Olivet Discourse (Matthew 24-25).

Now, after this (still on 11 Nissan), Jesus in Matthew’s Gospel tells His disciples:  “Now it came to pass, when Jesus had finished all these sayings, that He said to His disciples, ‘You know that after two days is the Passover, and the Son of Man will be delivered up to be crucified” (Matthew 26:2).   Yes, He would have been saying this still on 11 Nissan – meaning that 12 Nissan and 13 Nissan were the two days to which He referred before 14 Nissan, the day of the Passover.

Again, the two days prior to the Passover to which Jesus gave reference commenced on that very evening which would have been 12 Nissan or 12/13 Nissan (Tuesday) and then 13 Nissan or 13/14 Nissan (Wednesday – the Passover Preparation Day – the day of His crucifixion) for the Passover was on 14 Nissan or 14/15 Nissan (Thursday)…in other words Jesus made His statement that “after two days the Passover” on 11 Nissan (Monday) – so two full days would have been 12 Nissan (Tuesday) and 13 Nissan (Wednesday), with Wednesday evening at 6:00 p.m. commencing 14 Nissan, Passover Day; however, and as we have pointed out, the “Passover” or “supper” would have been meant by Jesus’ remark:  “You know that after two days is the Passover, and the Son of Man will be delivered up to be crucified.”

Cheney & Stanley Ellisen, Multnomah Books, 1994)

Now, Jesus concluded all these matters on 11 Nissan (Monday) but where did He spend the commencement of the evening on 12 Nissan (Tuesday evening)?  According to Matthew 26:6-13 He went back to Bethany, this time to the house of Simon the Leper where “a woman came to Him having an alabaster flask of very costly fragrant oil and she poured it on His head as He sat at the table … for in pouring this fragrant oil on My body, she did it for My burial.” 

Indeed, this is now the fourth night Jesus has spent in Bethany, for He spent the evening commencing on the Sabbath there on 9 Nissan (first night – Friday night); then again on the evening of 10 Nissan (second night – Saturday night) – then during the daylight of 10 Nissan was the Triumphal Entry – and then that evening, 11 Nissan, commencing Monday (third night), He again went back to Bethany – then during the daylight on Monday He confronted the religious leadership and some of the secular Jews, politicians, the multitudes and intimately shared the Olivet Discourse with His disciples – then He went back to Bethany the evening of 12 Nissan and was anointed for His burial in the house of Simon the Leper (fourth night – Tuesday night) – and then the next morning, still being 12 Nissan (Tuesday) He commissioned His disciples to find them a place for the Passover – so that day we have little recordation of happenings; however we read:

“Now on the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread

the disciples came to Jesus, saying to Him,

‘Where do You want us to prepare for You to eat the Passover?

And He said, ‘Go into the city to a certain man,

and say to him, ‘The Teacher says, ‘My time is at hand;

I will keep the Passover at your house with My disciples.

So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them;

and they prepared the Passover.

When evening had come, He sat down with the twelve.

Now as they were eating … He said ….”

(Matthew 26:17-21)

Clearly, 12 Nissan – daylight – which was on Tuesday – the disciples were sent out of Bethany to find a place for the first day of Unleavened Bread to “eat the Passover” – that evening – 13 Nissan, in Jerusalem, they ate the Passover – and within 24 hours from the commencement of the Passover meal, the first day of Unleavened Bread, in accordance with Halachic law, such a Passover was utterly permissible – though it was, as well, the Passover Preparation Day.

I simply might add to these observations that the “four nights” spent in Bethany – which means “House of the Poor” – technically constitute 12 hours X 4 is equal to 48 hours X 60 minutes per hour is equal to 2,880 minutes X 60 seconds is equal to 172,800 seconds which is 12 X 12 X 12 is equal to 1,728 which is the perfect cube and 2,880 divided by 2 is equal to 1,440 which is the Wall of the New Jerusalem or the two sets of “144” – “Israel and the Church” built into the Wall of the New Jerusalem – furthermore, the New Jerusalem bears the “12” insignia in that it is 12,000 furlongs x 12,000 furlongs X 12,000 furlongs (Revelation 21:16 – length, breadth and height).  From here we can readily extrapolate the dimensions of paradise in that 12 X 12 (one face of a six-faced cube) is equal to144 X 6 faces of a cube is equal to 864 sq. furlongs and 864 is the fractal of the Sun’s Diameter of 864,000 – thus, the length, breadth and height of the New Jerusalem is 12 X 12 X 12 is equal to 1,728 cubic furlongs which accords the ultimate dimension of the “864” and, therefore, the four nights in Bethany our Lord had but one “passion” upon His heart:  His Bride, the New Jerusalem!  Bethany is a rather perfect expression as Paul records:

For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,

that though He was rich,

yet for your sakes He became poor,

that you through His poverty might become rich.”

(II Corinthians 8:9)


It is apparent that Jesus and His disciples partook of the Passover “supper” the day before Passover – known also as Preparation Day for Passover (though it too could be considered Passover).  In Matthew 26:2-7 confirms this; along with Mark 14:1-3 and Luke 22:1-2.  It was obvious that the Pharisees had no intention of killing Jesus on the actual Feast Day which they considered Passover – i.e., Nissan 14 – thus, Jesus had to be killed before 14 Nissan…that date would have been 13 Nissan (Wednesday). 

In Luke 23:44-56 it speaks of “Messiah cut off” (i.e., the crucifixion of Jesus) in which it says:  “Now it was about the sixth hour, and there was darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour” (vs. 44).  In other words, this three-hour “crucifixion experience” was committed to us in time (from Noon to 3:00 p.m.) on “that day was the Preparation, and the Sabbath (i.e., Passover High Sabbath Day) drew near … then they returned and prepared spices and fragrant oils…and they rested on the Sabbath according to the commandment” (Luke 23:54-56 excerpts). 

Mark 15:42 states:  “Now when evening had come, because it was the Preparation Day, that is, the day before the Sabbath (i.e., before the High Sabbath of the Passover…approaching 14 Nissan), Joseph of Arimathea … he (Pilate) granted the body (of Jesus) to Joseph.”  The point here is that the “crucified body of Jesus” had to be taken down on the day of the Preparation for the Passover Sabbath in that the bodies of crucified victims were not allowed to hang on the Passover High Sabbath Day – they must be buried.

Moreover, we have this account:  “It was the third hour, and they crucified Him [i.e., 9:00 a.m. in the morning – the “third hour” of daylight]…now when the sixth hour had come [i.e., Noon or six hours of daylight from 6:00 a.m. the official beginning of daylight until Noon], there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour [i.e., 3:00 p.m. or from Noon – the sixth hour – until 3:00 p.m. the ninth hour] … and at the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying … ‘My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?’…and Jesus cried out with a loud voice, and breathed His last” (Mark 15:25, 33-34, 37).

Jesus was on the cross for six hours – from the third to the ninth hour but darkness covered the earth from the sixth hour to the ninth hour (from Noon until 3:00 p.m.  Therefore, if we are to take the six hours upon the cross * 60 minutes per hour = 360 minutes which connotes both His offering up for man (the number “6”) and the complete sacrifice to satisfy God (360 being a fractal of 360° of a circle without beginning or ending signifying God Almighty).  It must, however, be broken into two parts – with and without darkness or 360 minutes / 2 = 180 or “18” which Messiah was “cut off” but not for Himself but for the New Jerusalem which is “18.” 

Furthermore 360 minutes * 60 seconds = 2,160 seconds which is a fractal of the Moon’s diameter and of the circumference of the Nautical Earth in miles (21,600 nautical miles); however, divided by 2 (light and darkness) we find that 2,160/2 = 1,080 or two sets of “18” – again, the New Jerusalem.

Let me repeat:  In reality – the three days and three nights that Jesus was in the tomb – actually, in the heart of the earth – took place as follows:

  • Nissan 14/15 – Wednesday/Thursday – 24 hours – 1 night and 1 day – Passover High Sabbath Day
  • Nissan 15/16 – Thursday/Friday – 24 hours – 1 night and 1 day – Feast of Unleavened Bread – High Sabbath Day
  • Nissan 16/17 – Friday/Saturday – 24 hours – 1 night and 1 day – Regular Sabbath
  • 17 Nissan – Sunday (commencing at 6:00 p.m. Saturday and extending to 6:00 a.m. Sunday morning) – 12 hours -

Jesus’ tomb was found empty on the first day of the week, Sunday, before sunrise.  The third day would have been over for about 12 hours by that time with the actual Sabbath Day on Saturday ending at 6 p.m. – thus, from 6 p.m. Sunday (commencement of 17 Nissan) until 6 a.m. (Sunday morning and the end of the evening and commencement of the morning of Sunday) Jesus took another 12 hours before He revealed His resurrection – and for good reason!

Why was this additional 12 hours added to the three days and three nights which Jesus had said would be the “sign of the Prophet Jonah?

Some think that the additional 12 hours had to do with the further fulfillment of Jonah’s “sign” in that when the great fish spewed Jonah out on the shore a journey of three days awaited him in order to get to Nineveh or a walk of about 12 hours (4 hours per day)whereupon Jonah would have announced his judgment upon Nineveh.  Others think the disciples may have known that Roman guards were there and the religious leaders in Matthew 27:62 were well aware of the “three days” which Jesus had mentioned to them (Matthew 12:39; 16:4; Luke 11:29-30)…so why then did no one come to the tomb from 6:00 p.m. Saturday evening (which was AFTER the Sabbath) to 6:00 a.m. Sunday morning…12 hours?

It is the express opinion of this author that the additional one-half day (12 hours) was deliberately elongated beyond the “three days and three nights” to complete the full Holy Week of 7 days having commenced at 6:00 a.m. on Sunday morning, the previous Sunday at Jesus’ Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives.  Furthermore, this one-half day fulfills the first half of Passion Week’s 3.5 days and matches it with the latter part of 3.5 days by adding in these 12 hours of half of a day (Sunday evening).

Messiah the Prince was “cut off” four days (inclusive) after the commencement of His Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem if you were to count the full four days in that Sunday actually commenced at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday night which was considered the start of the first day of the week or Sunday unto 6:00 a.m. the next morning which was Sunday or 12 hours – but His visibility did not commence until 6:00 a.m. that Sunday morning unto 6:00 p.m. that evening for an additional 12 hours – however, this gives us 4 days for the inspection of the Paschal Lamb and 12 hours only for the Holy Weeks’ initial one-half day.

At the conclusion of the 69th Week Messiah was “cut off” – crucified.  That meant that as soon as 6:00 a.m. Sunday, 10 Nissan commenced that 69th Week ended – it was from that point unto 6:00 a.m. Sunday, 17 Nissan that a full 7 days took place – from the Triumphal Entry unto the early morning resurrection on Sunday.

The Holy Week is clearly broken up into two sets of 3.5 days as you can see below.  The express purpose of which amplifies the significance of the final 70th Week of Daniel’s prophecy to the uttermost.  Daniel’s Week is broken up into two halves as well – the first 1,260 days of the prevailing testimony of the Two Witnesses commence the Seventieth Week – for just as Jesus testified for the first 3.5 days of Holy Week, even so those who bear the “Testimony of Jesus” shall likewise prophecy for 3.5 days/3.5 years in the final Week.

The glaring fact that after Jesus discharged His testimony He was crucified – even so, the Two Witnesses after their 1,260 days of Testimony will encounter the Antichrist-Beast and for 3.5 days shall their body lie in the street of the Great City “where also their Lord was crucified” (Revelation 11:8) …and as He arose on the third day (literally the 3.5th day) they shall arise after three-and-one-half days (Revelation 11:9, 11) – it is after these 3.5 days which are symbolic of the 42 months under which the Holy City shall be trodden under foot by the Court of the Gentiles (Revelation 11:2) that these TWO WITNESSES shall, as their Master, rise from the dead:  COME UP HERE! (Revelation 11:12)  This is both a call of rapture and resurrection at the conclusion of the final one-half of Daniel’s Seventieth Week – this is expressly why Jesus was in the tomb 3 days and 3 nights but that He waited an additional one-half day to equal 3.5 days, just as the Two Witnesses shall experience the 3.5 days or time, times and half a time – 1,260 days – 42 months – 3.5 years.

The resurrection of Christ – in mirroring the Seventieth Week of Daniel’s prophecy – lends credence to the timing of the resurrection and the rapture (Harpazo – or snatching away of the Church) occurs at the close of the 2,520 days or the latter half of Daniel’s 70th Week (1,260 days unto the “middle of the week” in which the Two Witnesses have given, as He did, ample testimony to the Lamb and against that Great City, Babylon and then 1,260 days of “open persecution” enduring the Devil’s Great Wrath – their 3.5 days equates to His 3.5 days in the tomb and in ultimate resurrection as the Feast of Firstfruits on Sunday morning when His resurrection was manifested to the disciples!

Jesus ministered for 3.5 years in that His ministry clearly commenced on Yom Kippur, 10 Tishrei, the Day of Atonement wherein John the Baptist announced:  “Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29)  It was from here according to John’s gospel that Jesus attended four separate Passovers (three distinctly mentioned in John 2:13-22; 6:4-14; John 11:55 until His crucifixion and one by implication found in John 5:1).  Furthermore, in John’s gospel not only is there the Day of Atonement but also the Feast of Tabernacles found in John 7:2-39 and the Feast of Dedication found in John 10:22-30 – both of these Feast Days Jesus attended between His third and fourth Passovers.

May I insert at this juncture that the additional 12 hours of “Sunday evening” prior to His resurrection made visible is like a bookend matching the 12 hours of “Sunday morning” when Jesus made His Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday.  Was not this of Whom the Prophet Malachi announced as the Sun of Righteousness Whose brightness shall arise with healing in His wings and by that very brightness shall destroy the Son of Perdition, the Antichrist-Beast on the Day of His Coming again in glory?  “And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth, and DESTROY WITH THE BRIGHTNESS OF HIS COMING” (II Thess. 2:8; Malachi 4:1-2).

To the above I would add that Jesus remained after His resurrection 40 days and 40 nights … “To whom He also presented Himself alive after His suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen by them during forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God” (Acts 1:3). 

Furthermore, they remained in Jerusalem an additional 10 days unto the Feast of Pentecost (some 50 days from Passover – 14/15 Nissan unto 5/6 Sivan – Lev. 21:15-16, 24 – counted from the 2nd Day of Passover Week + 49 days or 7 weeks unto the Festival of Weeks – Pentecost – Shavu’ot) – let us remember that “49” is the Work of the Spirit as the first of 7 weeks of Daniel’s 70 Weeks prophecy (Daniel 9:25… “Until Messiah the Prince, there shall be seven weeks…”) and these seven weeks were seen in Zechariah 4:6 wherein it states:  “Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ says the LORD of hosts”…for the street and wall were built even in troublesome times and the sacrifice commenced and the dedication of the Temple – indeed, this was the 49 years and the work of the Spirit for Zechariah saw the Universal Lampstand having “seven lamps with seven pipes to the seven lamps” (i.e., 7 * 7 = 49) and this is the Work of the Spirit! (See:  Zech. 4:2)

Even so did the Holy Spirit on Pentecost descend upon the Holy Priesthood to make of them the Royal Priesthood and the manifestation of the Church to the world.  Thus, speak we of the 40, the 10 days, and the 49 (See:  Judaism 101) and the 1 which equals unto Pentecost, the “50.”

Jesus was about 30 years of age (in accordance with the age of ministry of a Levitical priest – Luke 3:23 – “Now Jesus Himself began His ministry at about thirty years of age”) when He commenced His ministry.  We do not have time here to contend that His birth took place around 10 Tishrei, the Day of Atonement unto 15 Tishrei, the Feast of Tabernacles; therefore, when He commenced His ministry it was at Atonement (10 Tishrei) in that it would have been “about” His 30th birthday.  There are approximately 180 days until 10 Nissan – the date of His Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem – so from 10 Tishrei until 10 Nissan are 180 days.

Or, if Jesus were born on 15 Tishrei (Feast of Tabernacles) – then the phrase “about 30 years of age” would have been altogether accurate; therefore, if He began His ministry on 10 Tishrei, the Day of Atonement and extended it for 3.5 years it would have been come to 10 Nissan (date of His Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem as Messiah the Prince) wherein the additional four days of His inspection would have been fulfilled from 10 Nissan unto 13/14 Nissan and the additional days would have placed the birth of Jesus at Feast of Tabernacles.  Jesus would have been 33.5 years of age with the final 3.5 years (precisely – based upon the Hebrew 360-day calendar) of His age given to His ministry.  

Please consider these astounding calculations regarding the full earthly life of the Son of Man – and please note that in the middle of His ministry nigh unto the very date between Passover (14/15 Nissan) unto 16/17 Tammuz (15 to 16 or 90 days) which marks the date when Nebuchadnezzar broke through the walls of Jerusalem and began the 3 week campaign to destroy the Temple; thus, this date marks the start of the THREE WEEKS OF SORROW for Israel’s Judgment and Exile commemorated by the Jews – recounted in II Kings 25:1-2.  It was at this time that the Temple of Solomon was destroyed three weeks later on the 9th of Av.) – so is the Fast of Tammuz (17 Tammuz – the middle of Jesus’ ministry) – how fascinating when we consider that the middle of Jesus’ ministry mirrors the middle of the Seventieth Week of Daniel and the subsequent destruction known as the Abomination of Desolation spoken of by Daniel the prophet and by Jesus in Matthew 24:15.

How could this be?  How is it that the very midst of Jesus’ ministry would be demarcated by the breaching of the wall of Jerusalem in 587 BC which led to Judah’s captivity wherein three weeks later – the 9th of Av, known as Tish’ah B’Av which marks the fateful day when the Temple was destroyed…marking the last day of the three weeks of sorrow and – I might hasten to add – this 9th of Av is likewise the very date of the destruction of the Herodian Temple in 70 AD under the “COMING PRINCE” whose people destroyed to the dirt Jerusalem and the Sanctuary wherein the words of our Lord Jesus were fulfilled which He uttered in Matthew 24:1-2 wherein not one stone would be left upon another – and don’t consider the current Wailing Wall remnants of the Herodian Temple when in point of glaring archaeological fact it is naught but the retaining wall of Fortress Antonio!

We cannot simply think that the Siege of Jerusalem in 587 BC wherein the fast of Asarah B’Tevet (Tevet 10) marks the day when Nebuchadnezzar committed his dastardly deed – though it was the judgment and subsequent captivity of Judah – did not go unnoticed by the Holy Spirit Who designed it as the central focal point of our Lord’s ministry – for the Father’s House was always upon His heart with APOCALYPTIC YEARNING, that he, the Beast, who shall yet desecrate the Temple anew in the midst of the Week, shall summarily be judged on that day – for we find that 630 days of His ministry is equal to as follows:  630 days * 24 hours = 15,120 hours or “1512” and 1512 is 756’ * 2 = 1512’ which is half of the four-square of the Great Pyramid of Giza wherein it bespeaks in Greek Gematria of Apocalypsis – THE APOCALYPSE.

Thus, He knew full well that the midst of His earthly ministry would indeed answer to the Beast’s efforts and of those who destroyed the Temple past – two times and thrice shall it be done in the middle of the Week upon the Feast of Tabernacles.  But though the Abomination of Desolation awaits – so does this!  For 15,120 hours * 60 minutes = 907,200 minutes * 60 sections = 54,432,000 seconds which MUST be seen as 54432 wherein He awaits the perfection of human social harmony via the coming of the Sun of Righteousness in that 5040 is the Perfection of Societal Harmony (even Plato understood this) – and “432” is the radius of the Sun for He is the Sun of Righteousness Who shall by the BRIGHTNESS OF HIS COMING destroy the Destroyer!

But, indeed, if 1512 is but half of our Lord’s ministry (3.5 years is 1,260 days divided by 2 is equal to 630 days X 15,120 hours or "1512" – then, it stands to glorious reason that 1512 * 2 (the other half of His ministry) would equal to 3,024 hours and this is the perfect fractal/resemblance of the Great Pyramid of Giza and the fulfillment on that day of the Altar unto the LORD at the border or Giza of Egypt (Isaiah 19:18-25) whereupon He shall redeem Egypt and Assyria and shall on that day take that which was called the CITY OF DESTRUCTION (Isaiah 19:18) … for it mirrors the Son of Destruction (aka Apollyon/Abaddon – Revelation 9:11) but on that day, yet future, it shall be called THE CITY OF RIGHTEOUSNESS!

Therefore, the four-square base of the Great Pyramid of Giza has gone from Apocalypse (two base edges) unto the following (four base edges) in the midst of our Lord’s ministry.

18 = the New Jerusalem and 144 is the Wall of the New Jerusalem

Can it be any clearer than this?  The midst of the Seventieth Week of Daniel’s prophecy is a tragedy beyond belief:  The Abomination of Desolation.  The midst of our Lord’s ministry looked back with disgust to the destruction of Solomon’s glorious Temple whereupon the glory of the Lord filled the house – then did the Gentile World Power initiate her destruction on 17 Tammuz in which Jerusalem’s wall was breached…but He came to BUILD THE WALL OF THE NEW JERUSALEM!  Hallelujah! 

How shall He do such a thing?  He’s already done it – for He, again, in the midst of Holy Week – a Week set apart for the glory of the Lord – went to the Cross and was crucified and laid in the tomb in the midst of that Week after 3.5 days and in 3.5 days thereafter He arose from the grave that glorious Sunday morning as the disciples discovered HE’S ALIVE – HE IS RISEN INDEED and has become the Firstfruits of them that slept and shall IN US at the terminus of the Seventieth Week – after our body shall have lain in the Street of the Great City wherein our Lord was crucified some 3.5 days (Revelation 11:8-11) – just as He was in the grave, even so, shall we be made alive…as Lazarus was awakened, even so we also:  COME UP HERE!  “And they ascended to heaven in a cloud, and their enemies saw them” (Revelation 11:12).

30 years = 360 days * 30 = 10,800 days

Then from Passover to Passover there are 360 days and again from the fact He attended four such Passovers would have been three full years + the 180 days (or half a year) from Day of Atonement to 10 Nissan with the “4 days of inspection” added on until 14 Nissan of the Passover (perfect!).

  • 180 days – 10 Tishrei – Day of Atonement (John 1:29) to 10 Nissan – Passover (14 Nissan) – John 2:13-22 
  • 360 days – Passover John 2:13-22 to Passover John 5:1 
  • 360 days – Passover John 5:1 to Passover John 6:4-14
  • 360 days – Passover John 6:4-14 to Feast of Tabernacles – John 7:2-39 to Feast of Dedication – John 10:22-30 to last Passover with the final 4 days of Inspection of the Paschal Lamb unto the Preparation Day of the Passover, 13 Nissan and then 14 Nissan is Passover Day – John 11:55

Even so, the resurrection and rapture of the Two Witnesses will be seen by all the earthlings (Revelation 11:11) – for the Wrath of the Lamb has come unto the 1,290th Day.  Brethren, do you see it?  This is perhaps one of the most profound discoveries of how the final Week – Holy Week – of our Lord’s ministry mirrors the final Week of His disciples – how glorious is this?!  The testimony which Jesus gave and what the content of that testimony was and is today in our lives is lived out today and in anticipation of that final Week – so it shall be lived out most definitely during that final week as well!

The Holy Week – the final 7 days between Jesus’ Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem and the morning of His Resurrection on the first day of the week – and the Seventieth Week of Daniel given to us as a “Week” of 1,260 days + 1,260 days = 2,520 days – perfectly mirror each other in Testimony & Witness – in Suffering, Death and Resurrection. 



The inspiration of the Scriptures astounds – the overlay of the Holy Week upon Daniel’s Seventieth Week ignites the prophetic world as none other for it is the Testimony of Jesus lived out throughout the Church Age but climaxing in the final Week itself.  Jesus is alive!  He is living in and through His people – they are preparing to give a collaborative witness in their final week – this will be Jesus living out His Testimony to climax the end of the age in the fullness of His faithfulness, perseverance, purity, patience, prophetic declaration, unmitigated witness to authorities, principalities and powers in high places – uncompromised, absolutely riveting – full of authority and power from on High – committed to the uttermost and willing to lay down His Life through us, His bondslaves!

Whatever He endured – whatever suffering – whatever pain – He took that for us – therefore, if we suffer with Him in “His final hours” – if we “love not our lives unto the death” – then it shall be His Life, His Cross, His Suffering, His Forgiveness and all that He is He shall be in us the Overcomer … for they overcame him by the Blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony and they loved not their lives unto the death…and for this Testimony – the Testimony of Jesus – we give our all because He’s giving His all through us all! 

The day comes when “all flesh shall see it together” – for the Two Witnesses shall be anointed for 1,260 days and then, as He, shall their open persecution before all be seen and so shall their resurrection after three-and-one-half days…that all may be confounded before Him at our Resurrection!  Isn’t this the testimony and witness that we desire to bear in these Last Days?  Amen, even so, Come, Lord Jesus!
